So it’s our first wedding anniversary next month. Normally I wouldn’t be worried about gifts or anything, as myself and husband are more quality time type people (for Valentine’s day he just cooked me an amazing dinner and we just spent some time together at home). This isn’t to say we don’t like giving/receiving gifts, just that they aren’t massive deals for either of us and we had pretty much decided no pressure for anniversary gifts either.
Unfortunately, D-H was sent far away on a last minute deployment, so we won’t be together for our first anniversary :(. So now I’m thinking of something I can do for him or send to him just to mark the occasion (we will be going away together when he gets back, but I do want something to happen on our anniversary). He is an incredibly thoughtful and romantic guy, but I am less so, and I’m really wanting to be more romantic. I know it would mean a lot to him, especially when he’s so far from home.
The problem is, I feel kinda stumped. As stated, I am not normally good with being overtly romantic/thoughtful, I just don’t think I am creative enough! So I thought I’d come and ask the Bees for some advice and ideas for either sweet anniversary gifts that would be able to be sent in a care package, or sweet/thoughtful/romantic ideas in general for a long distance love.
Thanks for any advice! 🙂

The first anniversary is the paper anniversary right? Maybe a handmade card with a letter or poem.
I don’t know if you send each other letters, but I know a hand written letter my partner wrote me is one of my most treasured gifts.

Can you plan some activity or meal for your trip away together when he gets back? That would give him something specific to get excited about (besides going away with you, of course!)
There might be some ideas on Etsy or Pinterest for paper crafty stuff you could make, but I like PP’s idea of a letter since you want to be romantic, and the traditional first anniversary gift is paper. Or something like this: https://ziploc.com/en/inspiration/activities-and-crafts/family-fun/small-but-mighty-ways-to-say-i-love-you where you put together a deck of cards with reasons why you love him.

For our first (paper) anniversary, I hired a calligrapher to write our vows. We’d wrtten our vows together, so they were unique and special to us. And then I framed it and gave it to him. We have it hanging in our bedroom now.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!! I didn’t even know the first anniversary was Paper haha (show’s how much I know), but that makes it easier to come up with something sweet to do. Thanks again!
