Anyone doing a traditional paper gift for their first anniversary? Ours is coming up and I am trying to come up with something creative. I am thinking of a leather keepsake Bible that we can start a family tree in, like listing births, deaths, etc. as a keepsake for our future children and their families. Anyone have any other ideas?

We just did this! I printed photos (digital on paper!) for his desk in a nice frame. He gave me monogrammed stationary.
I think the bible is a great idea!

This is what I got my husband. It’s a custom print of how the night sky looked on the day we got married. I’ll give it to him tonight at dinner, but I think he’ll really like it. 🙂

@Mrs. Spring: That is so cool!
So, if I decide on the Bible, do you think I should just start the ‘family tree’ with my husband’s and my information or should I start with like, our grandparents or parents and go from there? Is it more special if it starts with us or is it more special if it is an accurate family tree (with the info we know anyway – I wouldn’t go further back than our grandparents…)?

I think it would be more special to include grandparents since they are part of your family.

@MissAB: Yeah, that’s what I was thinking – otherwise it would be a mighty short ‘tree.’ Also, those would be the kinds of things our future children and grandchildren would be interested in seeing. Thanks for the input and ideas!

For our first anniversary, I bought the sheet music for our first dance and had it framed together with a photo of us dancing to it at our wedding. He loved it!

I’m doing a custom poster of Australia since that’s where we honeymooned.

OMG Mrs. Spring! Thank you so much. This will be the perfect gift for my husband. The night of our wedding he went outside prior to the ceremony to collect his thoughts and looked up into the sky to see 3 bright stars shining down. His parents and sister have all died in the last 6 years and he said he knew once he saw them that they were smiling down on our wedding and marriage and felt ok (well as ok as he could) about them not being there. I’m so psyched!!!
