- Wedding: June 2015
So we just had our first anniversary and the first year flew by. We celebrated by having dinner at the restaurant downstairs from where our reception was.
We knew that it was tradition to save the top layer of the cake and have it for the first anniversay, but we both were like who wants year old cake. We ate our top layer while coming down from the wedding. My husband surprised me with a replica of our top layer, but with the flavors of the cake. Our original top layer was yellow cake with almond buttercream frosting which was supposed to freeze well. The anniversary cake is key lime cake with raspberry filling and almond buttercream. Both were covered in fondant with white chocolate shells. It is so yummy, and it was a great surprise!
Here is our wedding cake which everyone loved.
Here is the replica top tier for our anniversay.
This tastes so much better than year old cake. My husband designed our wedding cake, so this is so special to me.
