We relaxed mainly but went to dinner the actualy night of our anniversary and exchanged gifts. I got real diamond earrings and I had me him a book about our relationship/marriage. It was nice. He teared up. I recomment the Love Book to all.

My husband planned a 7 day caribbean cruise for our 1st anniversary, it was a blast, we ate and drank way too much! I ended up getting pregnant on that trip- so I’m glad we lived it up before our little guy makes his debut this November.

We were originally planning a four day trip to Ottawa (we live in Mississauga) because neither of us have ever seen it. Plus I am the type of gal who likes to ‘geek out’ and go to Museums and historical sites. But between me recently changing jobs and being pregnant, we have decided to maybe do an overnight trip the weekend before to possibly Toronto…I know Toronto is close but it is significant because for our one year of dating anniversary we went to the CN Tower. Our actual wedding anniversary is on the Monday and we both have to work, but we want to get dressed up and take some ‘formal’ photos of us cutting and eating the top tier of our cake that has been in the freezer all this time.

jpbee : We took a long weekend back to our venue (cabins in Moab) and did some ATV riding, pigging out, hiking and general relaxation. Husband desperately needed the break in any case. We also took some photos together at our ceremony site in the nice, sunshiny weather as it rained on our wedding day. Made a nice comparison. I also cooked him a ‘paper anniversary’ dinner as per a suggestion from another bee, on our actual anniversary date, which we both loved.

We just celebrated early because we won’t be together the actual day of the anniversary. First, we went to dinner and drinks at the same restaurant where we had our first date. Then, we came home and exchanged cards. We also ate our frozen wedding cake top and drank champagne at home. It was lovely and full of beautiful conversation. Enjoy, and congratulations!

Thanks for sharing ladies, it has been great to hear everyone’s stories!
LVtennisgirl80 : How wonderful! I went on my first cruise earlier this year with my Mum, also to the Caribbean. It is scary how much we ate and drank on that cruise, they are definitely the most indulgent type of holidays! Congratulations on your pregnancy and I hope all goes well in November : )

We celebrated a year last June and went to Ogunquit, ME which is where we went for a few days right after we got married. It was very nice and relxing. We slept a lot, ate a lot of bad food and relaxed. We exchanged gifts too which was nice. I got him a Love Book Online which I highly suggest.

HC_IC721 : I have the same idea of wearing my wedding shoes for our anniversary- why not enjoy them! On the bottom, the stickers say “And they lived” “Happily Ever After”.

I guess we’ll celebrate our first anniversary 2 ways in April 2017… and yes, we’re already planning but mostly cause we need to save up.
Actual anniversary day- we’ll go to the restaurant where our catering company was based from about 30 minutes outside of town. We’ve already talked about re-doing some of the food we had at the wedding (partially because we didn’t get to eat all of it).
To celebrate it- and the paper anniversary… the paper is going to be a paper cruise ticket. We won’t do any other big vacations next year so a 1 week trip is in the works. We’re actually considering doing our honeymoon cruise over again.

LVtennisgirl80 : Bahahah that’s hilarious and you weren’t the first or last person that has happened too! I wouldn’t be shocked if that happened to us! lol

Since we were living in a different country to the one we were married in, we picked a nice restaurant to go to in town, had delicious food and a bottle of wine, and then came home and re-enacted the wedding night.

Update… we just booked our anniversary cruise for 2017!!! Can’t wait. It’s the same trip as before but in different order and staying in a different room. Hope to meet fun new people and have a blast. We’ve already started researching different things to do this time- we’re really excited!

I love the cruise idea or going back to the venue for dinner. My sister in law received an artist created Dreamlines sketch of her wedding dress for the one year, as it was paper. He is crazy romantic. My husband copied off him. He is not as romantic :), but he gave me a sketch on our wedding day. It was really sweet and I was very surprised. I love the theme idea. There is a paper company that makes earrings, cufflinks, etc. I am sure they are on etsy.

I was on my period and general feeling not the greatest. (I bleed heavily, feel weak, get super pale and sick to my stomach on the first day). So we stayed home. I woke up and my husband had made me a large card (since it is the paper anniversary) and I had made him some little things on paper that said “Massage” ect. So he could give it to me and I would then give him a massage on any day he wanted. Sounds cheesy I know! lol
Anyways, my husband knew I was feeling pretty rough so he got take out and rented a couple of red box movies for us to watch. We stayed in and ate our yummy take out and ejoyed a few movies! We also had a small cake to celebrate. We also did gifts and exchanged those early on in the day. I got him a tungsten bracelet and he got me a anniversary band. 🙂 It was a pretty relaxing and memorable day even though it was super low key.

I haven’t thought about it, but we got Married on a cruise ship. Might be super awesome and nostalgic to take that same cruise. Going to look into it now
