Is this your first pregnancy? I’ve read that some women don’t feel their baby’s movement until around 25 or so weeks. I started to feel my son move probably around 13-14w. But the sensation was more on par with like a fish swimming inside me, lol. I wasn’t feeling a lot of movement at that time and really only when I was completely sedentary and in certain positions (like laying on a certain side in bed). I don’t get indigestion or gas so I figured it must’ve been baby’s movements that I was feeling. Some women just aren’t sure how to detect it but I also think it has a lot to do with where you’re carrying the baby, height, weght, etc. I’m not a doctor though, so please don’t quote me.

I’m 21w now and can feel him all the timem he’s grown keen to kicking my bladder and he’s quite the active lil thing.

I posted about this recently I’m now 19 + 4 and I’m sure I felt some flutters yesterday and this morning though I’m not 100 percent yet as I had been having tummy spasms from sickness. It’s my first too and iv since been reassured that for some you just aren’t sure until the baby is more than 20 odd weeks. Some women skip the flutters stage and just get big kicks later on. I’m not so worried now as I’m sure it will happen clearly soon. Very exciting but very nerve wracking too. X

KBelle12:  I had an anterior placenta with my first (so was a cushion between baby and I) and I didn’t feel anything until week 26. It was the absolute worst. My second was not an anterior placenta and I still didn’t feel anything until probably 20 weeks or so.

I started feeling definite kicks around week 20. Before that I had been feeling her move around, but at the time I figured it was just gas, lol. I have anterior placenta as well.

gollum:  I was just going to ask her if she knows whether or not she has an anterior placenta.. that could be the reason for not feeling anything yet.

KBelle12:  I’m 18w, with an anterior placenta and have felt next to nothing. But we had an anatomy scan Monday and all is well, so I’m sure it’s just my placenta in the way, darn placenta! I read those who have it usually feel movement between 20-24w. I *think* I felt felt a few tiny movements in the last few weeks, but nothing where I went “Whoa that was definitely the baby!” It’ll be coming soon!!

Does anyone know how long after than Dad can feel the baby move? I assume it takes quite a while to be felt on the outside. Dh is gonna be so jealous when I can feel the baby and he can’t. Poor guy. But so sweet. 🙂

Right around 13 weeks with both pregnancies. Placenta placement has a lot to do with it I think.

koi424:  I think it depends on which way your baby is kicking. My friend said that when she was pregnant with her son he always kicked “inwards” so her husband never felt it!

I felt mine move at about 16 weeks. It was extremely subtle and I really had to be sitting very still to be able to feel it. DH felt him for the first time when I was 19+3. I’m 22 weeks today and I can see him from the outside now. I’m also pretty thin so he is very close to the surface of my belly.

KBelle12:  I felt my first real, definite kick the day I turned twenty weeks. Idid have an anterior placenta, though. I bet you’ll feel the baby any day now!

KBelle12:  the first time I felt DS I was laying flat on my back in bed watching TV, felt like 3 bubbles popping.  This time I was hunched over in a chair eating I think and it was more of a thump.  So you don’t have to be in any certain position, and it’s very common for a lot of ladies to not feel anything before 20 weeks – so don’t worry! It also depends on the baby and how active they are too.  Lots of factors can effect how soon you feel anything and what it feels like. I’m sure you’ll start to feel baby soon!
