@anev:  I bought an inexpensive one off amazon made by fansidi.  It’s a small kit with different file attachments.  I’ve been using it for 10 months and it’s still going strong.

@anev:  echoing a lot of others with the boppy lounger for supervised awake time, nose frida and saline drops, we used gas drops a lot too. Halo Velcro swaddles followed by halo sleep sacks once they hit 8 weeks or can roll. If you have two stories, it’s a good idea to get a pack and play or something for the downstairs so you’re not always going up and down to the nursery. We LOVED our Halo Swivel Bassinet for post C Section recovery and  easy access to baby. Once they’re a bit older the fisher price sit me up chair was super awesome to let him hang out in.

I would actually say don’t get a lot of breastfeeding items yet until you’re sure how it goes. I spent a lot on storage bags, nipple creams, nursing bras, bra pads and lasted two weeks. We had to run out last minute and buy 5 different bottles to see what he liked. Once we picked formula, the Baby Breeza machine is incredible and I recommend to anyone formula feeding!

Items we didn’t need were blankets, everyone got blankets and the baby can’t even use them. No need for a dock a tot or expensive bed sharing bassinet that is unsafe. Sound machines are over rated, you can download free sleep sounds apps to your phone (we use our iPad as his sleep noise machine).

Things we used a lot:

For Baby:

– Muslin swaddles (for swaddling, stroller cover, blanket to lay him down on…whatever)

– Carriers: Ergobaby for longer walks, Moby for newborn, ring sling for everything else

– A bassinet that rocks side to side (e.g. Moba) — lifesaver to soothe him when he semi-woke middle of the night

– Jogging stroller if you live in a walkable area – such a smooth ride for kiddo and usually big enough that you can lay it flat and it becomes a defacto mini-bassinet on wheels

– Sleep gowns — ALL the sleep gowns. I love Goumi cotton ones and Cocooi Merino ones (if winter baby)

– Cloth diaper cover (good ot cover a disposable with in the car to prevent blow outs from getting all over the carseat!)

I’m also team snaps (vs zippers) and I just use coconut oil and Calendula cream for diaper rash and it works wonders!

For Mom:

– Haaka

– Nursing tanks (H&M has surprisingly good ones)

– Pumping / Nursing bra (Amazon has some good dual-purpose ones)

– Lively nursing bralette (if not well endowed — SO comfy but also cute!)

Yes!  Sit Me Up chair instead of the Bumbo – PTs say those are bad for babies.
