I would probably grab her belly back and ask her how she is doing

A good friend of mine rubbed my belly last weekend at 14 weeks…there’s really nothing there yet. It was a little awkward, but I didn’t mind. I was more caught of guard bc it’s soo early!!

I’m not even pregnant yet and I’ve had my mom and Mother-In-Law rub my belly asking when/if lol.  We were showing my Mother-In-Law the calendar we’d had made with our wedding photos this weekend.  I had marked my expected period dates for the next 3 months just as “P Day” and she asked why I was tracking our pay days, that we should just already know that.  – I said no, it’s actually for my periods.  She was all “ooooh!!!!! Are we expecting a little baby in there?” and rubbed my belly hahaha

For me personally, I dont’ think it’ll bother me at all to have family/friends rub my pregnant belly 🙂  I would even encourage it once I have a big belly and you could feel kicks.  But as a non-pregnant woman who’s put on about 8 pounds since my October wedding, I’m not loving the idea of anyone touching my belly.   I do think it’s pretty cute how excited our parents are for a future grandchild though… I didn’t mind, but just thought it was funny when I ready your thread how I am not even preggo and have had a belly grab!

Ha ha, the only time I ever reached for a belly was when I was 7 (my aunt was pregnant and I didn’t know better). The next time I met a pregnant woman was at one of my jobs and I asked her if I could touch hers (it seemed weird to invade her space without her permission) and she just laughed and said it was fine. I think she was happy I asked rather than just going for it. Never been pregnant myself though, so I have no experience with that.

howtobeawife:  omg i had my first belly grab at 10 weeks I believe and it was by my aunt and I hated it. I cringed. I didnt know how to respond to it. And she still does it. Im very close with her so its awkward. And it wasnt just a belly rub, it was literally more of a grab and at 10 weeks, its not a firm belly, so it was uncomfortable.

Two friends started around 10 weeks as soon as they saw a tiny bump.  It was odd. Actually had  my friend touch mine this weekend to compare hardness (she’s 30 weeks and I’m 16).  Feels much less strange now that my belly is getting firm.

The first person I remember actually rubbing my belly out of nowhere was my friend’s mom, at about 24 weeks.  I don’t really mind it when people I know reach out and touch it.  I mean, it surprises me but then I laugh.  I have yet to have a stranger do it, and I can’t imagine I’d be happy about it…

howtobeawife:  I had a coworker grab my belly at 4 weeks with my first BFP in Nov. I had only told her bc I was puking at work. It was so strange. This time I’m 6wks4d and work somewhere else, so nothing so far!

howtobeawife:  I felt the same way with my first “belly grab” haha! It was my sister and she was posing for a picture with me after we announced our pregnancy. I was like, woah, what’s with the hand?! Then it hit me, it’s a baby belly hand placement…so weird when there is no baby belly yet. Then my mom did it and Mother-In-Law the next day. Those first few times are weird when you aren’t expecting it yet, especially when there’s no baby belly to feel, just gut, but they are just excited so I tried to get over it. 😉

howtobeawife:  Mine was a friend at about 14 weeks- so weird. I was like, um, those are my abs and some 1st trimester nausea/snacking flab you’re feeling, not a baby! It seems odd to me when people feel you up before you can actually feel baby movement or body parts from the outside……

Ugh I hated that! I really don’t mind the belly touch anymore since I HAVE a belly but yeah it was sooo awkward in the beginning when I were even showing yet. I had one of my Darling Husband friends kneel down and talk to my belly when I was maybe 11 weeks. Hello personal space haha!

I had the reverse situation happen to me the other day!  A friend of mine is pregnant and wantede me to feel her belly, but I really didn’t feel comfortable with that , but she just grabbed my hands anyways and put them right on.  It was kind of weird.

howtobeawife:  I’m rather tall and have a long torso, so honestly I didn’t start showing to the naked until I was beyond 6 months. That didn’t stop Mother-In-Law from grabbing at my stomach at about 3 months.

She knew I didn’t want to be touched so I just said “nope, still just a six-pack.”
