Just relax…. But are you sure your hair won’t grow back in 10 weeks? You may need to get it done again. The good news is that it get less painful each time.

I’m going for the first time next week and the lady suggested taking an advil and some tums before. I’m not sure what tums will do-but she knows what she’s doing so I’ll do it.

I actually just went for the first time last Friday.  Yes – it hurts!  and for the next 2 days, I was very sensitive down there (almost like a bruise). But I think it was worth it.  I just kept my mind off of it by talking the lady to death! ha ha!!  They suggested that I come back after 4 weeks to do it again – so keep that in mind with your timeline.  Like RoundSolitaire said, you’ll need to go back before your wedding.

@thegoogler88:  Ahh!! I’m making an appointment today.

We’re in the same area…let me know where you go and if you liked it.  I’m thinking of going to one of the EWC’s around here, I hear good things.  Good luck!! I’m nervous too!

I also started before my wedding. It does hurt, but you’ll get used to it and it’ll be less intense each time. Good luck!

@thegoogler88:  Oooh, I’ll look into them.

For all bees who’ve had this done before…how much growth do you need before you go?  I have dark but fine hair on my arms and legs, a bit thicker “down there”, and on my head it is THICK, dark, and grows fast.  A week? Two?  God, that’s the worst part, growing it out.

Maybe I just have a really great girl, but it’s really never hurt me that much.  So advice.  Yes to the Advil!  Can’t hurt.  When you shower in the morning, use an exfoliant to remove dead skin so the hair will come out easier. Make sure your girl is using the right kind of wax.  Think thick like honey not thin like runny water.  She should be using the kind that gets removed with a stick for most of not the kind you remove with cotton strips. (That’s mostly for leg waxing.)  Bring hydrocotizone with you.  My girl has her own, but I’ve heard some places don’t use it.  It makes all the differnce so you don’t have irritated skin afterwards and prevents in-growns.  If you are normally prone to in-growns, I would reccommend using Tend Skin, too.  I don’t need it but some of my friends sweat by it.

You’ll be FINE!  Your hubby’s gonna LOVE it, trust me!

@MrsDrRose612:  I know growing it out sucks!  My girl tells everyone for the first time it should be 3 weeks.  Also, she says it will hurt more if you’ve shaved before.  Good Luck!

um… I’m don’t think 3 weeks is correct.  I was told one week of growth should be enough.  The rule of thumb is this:  You want it long enough that you can grab the hair with your fingers with out having to use your nails.  OR another rule of thumb – the width of a pencil eraser.

I’d say you need about a 1/4 inch of growth?

Also please make sure that the salons do not double dip their sticks in the wax!!
