Bring your undergarments and your shoes that you will be wearing! I had all 4 of my fittings by myself and had no issues, my seamstress color coded my double bustle and it was simple to show to my Maid/Matron of Honor on the wedding day!

Also, don’t be afraid to make changes or to let the seamstress know if you don’t like something. If you are uncomfortable or the seamstress is “pushy” in whatever way, find another one! I only say this because I know of a few brides who went through this and it could have been avoided! You only get one day!

Be really clear and demanding about the alterations you want. Take lots of pictures! And make sure u go in with sort of low expectations because the dress will look so much better by the end of the alterations process.

Doxie7:  It helps to have your hair done nicely and a little makeup on so you can get a bridal feel of how you want to look. I would also recommend wearing whatever undergarments you plan to wear on your wedding day, some alterations shops will actually not do your alterations if you dont have the proper undergarments.

Wear the shoes you plan to wear, or ones of aprox. height- if you haven’t done that yet

Takes lots of pictures and speak up on what you want and do not want to be done to your dress

Speak up! If you don’t like how something looks or feels… let them know! And yes, bring any undergarments and your shoes. That way they know what you’ll be wearing underneath, and can lengthen/shorten if necessary.

I just had my first fitting last week, and the gal has been great to work with! She did some changes after the first meeting, and last Sunday I met at her place again and had to do a few more things to it (like take out something that she tucked in so my arms didn’t look squished with my straps oif the v-neck).

I’m meeting with her again this Sunday to see if anything more would need to be done… then probably again before the wedding to fine tune everything.
