I need some help thinking of a Christmas gift for my soon to be husband (that is so crazy to say!). So, our wedding date is December 16th. Two days later, we are off to Italy, and we will be spending Christmas there, meaning I will have to bring anything I get him for Christmas with me already wrapped in my suitcase to a foreign country. We already discussed that the gift would be small and simple, since our wedding is so close to the holidays, but we are huge Christmas people (hence the date of our wedding), and I want to do something special for our first Christmas as a married couple.
Some of his likes:
Sports in general
Being outdoors (snowbarding, skateboarding)
Trying new things
Food (though we are plant based in our diet)
Disney (the theme of our wedding!)
Things he does not like or is uninterested in:
Thank you so much for any suggestions, I just want to do this right! 🙂

Could you take him to a soccer game in Italy and maybe get him something like the shirt or scarf for the team you watch when you are there? He might be interested if you like sports, plus it would always remind him of your honeymoon and you dont have to pack something big. It would also fill the trying something new part of your gift.
Another suggestion is taking him to a Michelin star restaurant in Italy if he loves food.

Buy him whatever you would buy him if you weren’t traveling. Take a pictue of it and wrap that.
We are also travelling over Christmas and New Year’s and agreed not to waste space in our luggage packing Christmas gifts.

menguin18 : What about an experience for your honeymoon? You could plan a surprise outing for one of the days to somewhere he might not expect. This list has a ton of obscure things to check out if you guys are into that kind of thing: https://www.atlasobscura.com/things-to-do/italy
You could sign the two of you up for an authentic Italian cooking class, visit the catacombs, etc.

I like the idea of tickets to a sporting event while you’re on your vacation (of if not possible, tickets to a game for when you’re back home). All you would need is an envelope, so it wouldn’t take up much space.
Just be careful with wrapped gifts and airport security, you may want to do a gift bag instead in case they have to open it to inspect it.

menguin18 : I’m more about memories than material things. I agree on an event or outing while on vacation. Go to a sporting event in Italy or take him to the slopes for a day! I believe there are 2 top rated ski resorts in Italy. That’s a fantastic memory if he is really big into snowbarding.

I agree with PPs on the suggestion of sporting tickets (whether in Italy or back home) or another experiential gift. A soccer game in Italy would be an awesome experience (the quality in Europe is much higher than North America for professional soccer). The league in Italy is called Serie A – I’m not sure where you are staying but the top teams in that league right now are in Turin, Naples, Rome and Milan.

what about a cool adventure in europe like mushroom hunting and a cooking class? (though maybe this isn’t possible in december) or pasta making? https://www.viator.com/tours/Florence/Cooking-Class-and-Lunch-at-a-Tuscan-Farmhouse-with-Local-Market-Tour-from-Florence/d519-5070FARMHOUSE (this is just an example you would probably want to find one that is veggie specific since you probably wouldn’t enjoy making a pork roast)
a relaxing spa day together (in europe or when you get back to have something to look forward to)
a murano glass ornament (or other fancy ornament) for your tree to remember your trip by
an italian leather wallet with a heart and wedding date embossed on it or really nice italian leather shoes or briefcase or belt (not sure how you feel about leather)
some other “expensive” luxury excursion while you are there – a balloon ride or boat or helicopter tour

These are all such fantastic ideas, thank you! I will have to look up what sports events or classes will be near us when we go!
