I’m a Southern California girl, so my casual shoes of choice are flip flops. I know a lot of people can’t walk a long distance in them, but I love them. Specifically, Rainbows. They need some breaking in, but once they are they are shaped to your feet. So if you have a high arch it’ll have more support there.

Have you tried Havaianas?  They’re super comfortable, and require no breaking in… something about the strap design, they never rub/pinch, and the harder rubber on the sole prevents foot fatigue.

I just fell in love with LL Bean Sandals.  They have a thick foam sole, and are available in really cute designs, for $25.  Walking the mall normally kills my ankles, but I am totally comfy in these.

OK–so hear me out.

Crocs are your best friend. Not the frumpy clog ones, but the cute Mary Jane and ballet flat ones. They are easy to pack, I can pair them with many a casual thing (jeans, sun dresses, etc) and they are pretty supportive and way easy to break in. I take two pairs of shoes with me on all of my cruises (one pair of kitten heels for formal nights and my croc flats)  and haven’t been disappointed yet. I wear them on Lido, I go on excursions, they can go in the water, they go with everything I own, and they are crazy easy to clean.

I definitely just wore flip flops. I have these Nikes that are pretty cute and have great support (some sort of squishy, foamy something). They went with my sundresses and swimming suit! I did wear heels for most dinners, though. It was fun to dress up.

ditto. for all of my carribean cruises i just packed a pair of heels to match all of my evening dresses along with a pair of flip flops from target last season and then a somewhat “nicer” sandal from aldo. flip flops really work for most excursions! some may specify sneakers.. and then flip flops are easy to bring in a bag for shopping or whatever is done at the port before or after. good luck!

@MsYankee:  I wore shoes like Crocs (Olivia style, like Carnival_Bride posted)… Just an off brand 🙂 they were great for walking around the ports!

I also rocked flip flops and ballet flats a lot, but I know they don’t always have the best arch support

these are the most comfortable sandels ever, I have similar pairs I got in New Zealand (sole is the same upper is different design), I took them on my cruise, they are great for walking everywhere, I have high arches also.  I can never go back to wearing ordinary flip flops again.  They are at the upper end of your budget but def worth every cent I think. Or you could get the tide sandel which are a bit cheaper http://www.orthaheelusa.com/women/sandals.html

I’m just thinking of what shoes to take on my cruise and I think I’m going to buy a pair of crocs (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005CFYGV2/ref=gno_cart_title_3), bring flip flops, a pair of black heels that will match most of my evening wear, a pair of regular flats, and a pair of sneakers… but I’ve never been on a cruise (well, excpet when I was 12 and with my parents) so take my advice with a grain of salt 🙂
