I’m not TTC and haven’t gone off BC, but I’m dying to know why being in Canada would make a difference…..

Well, I think that a lot of people experience wonky cycles the first months off BC. My three first cycles were 35, 15 and 50 (!) days. After that, they levelled out and became more regular. I’d probably give it another week before I called the doctor. You could consider to POAS – my best friend got a BFP on the first cycle of BC!

I got pregnant my first cycle after 11 years on BC, but I ovluated about a week later than I thought.

The general rule of thumb is 60 days without AF and a BFP and you should call your doctor.  Some women have 60+ day cycles, but your doctor can Rx something to help with that if that is the case for you, so I would definitely make an appointment if you hit 60 days with no period and you are not KU.  Good luck!

I just went off and got my AF at 31 days. I would say if in two months you do not get AF I would call a doctor. Just make sure you use backup until then because you wouldn’t know if you should have gotten your period or not.

I’m in the US, so this might not help, but I came off of BC after being on for 11 years as well. My first cycle was 84 days. I called my doctor right around CD 60, and they told me they wouldn’t even consider seeing me until I was at 90 days. I was about to call them again when AF finally made her appearance.

It can depend on your history as well. If you were regular before, you will likely be regular now, although the first few cycles off the pill can be a bit wonky.

I didn’t have a period for six months after stopping the pill, but I’m an odd case with a history of irregular periods.  My gyno said that she wouldn’t see me until six months out so I saw my regular doctor who did bloodwork and ultrasounds to make sure everything was okay.

@Khumble: it’s good that you came off now to give your body some time to adjust. I wasn’t very regular after I came off…it took about 6 months for me to get onto a regular schedule, and even then, my cycles were still 35-40 days long.

I finally did get pregnant around cycle 8, but miscarried in my first trimester. Ironically enough, I’m more regular now after my miscarriage than I ever was before it! I’m closer to 30 day cycles now!

Oh the joys of BC… I just got off mine in the middle of last month and after not having a period in 2 years I am not sure what is going on with my cycle so we are blindly TTC…

It took a full year for my cycle to return after being on BC for only 2 years. I stopped taking it because it was making me very sick. Before BC I was on a consistant 28 day cycle, now I have been off BC for 3 years and have been on a consistant 40 day cycle, so who knows how long it will take to go back to 28 days if it ever does. I have no plans to go back on BC even though we are not TTC, it just made me way too sick.
