So… today I am day 29 since my last period. I came off the Nuvaring after 10 years of being on different BC (Nuvaring for last 5 years, I think). I came off of BC early to regulate my periods so we could TTC by the end of the year after our wedding. Too Much Information alert – FH and I only had unprotected sex once since coming off, and he didn’t “finish” inside me… I know its a remote possibility to be pregnant, and I wouldn’t be upset (its less than 8 weeks to the wedding anyway).
When would you call the doc? Or should I test? What have your experiences been with your cycles after coming off of BC?

Totally normal. Most doctors won’t do anything until after 90 days. You can test if you’re worried, but likely your body will take awhile to sort itself out and start ovulating again.

I agree with Maple Becky. Some people are lucky enough to immediately get back on track with their cycles after going off BC, but some aren’t. I have been on and off the pill for 10 years, and it usually takes me about 6-7 weeks to get a period. Some people on here have said it took 6-7 months. I think if you were regular before going on BC you’ll have an easier and quicker time getting back on track, but if you were irregular, really anyone’s guess.
Good luck though, I know it is so frustrating trying to figure out where you are in your cycle.

I would say it’s pretty normal. I just came off BC after 10 years on, and my first cycle was 36 days. I told myself I’d wait until 40 to test, and 60+ to see a doctor since a lot of girls on here told me it could be a while before your body gets back on track!

My doctor told me to call after CD35 if I didn’t get a period but I do have PCOS!
My doctor was really busy with vacation and such that I don’t have an appt until Sept 6th! Today is CD72!!!!

@MapleBecky: Phew! That makes me feel better. Thanks!
@Tatum: I can’t remember if I was regular or not back then. I was only 14 when I went on the Pill for severe cramps and heavy flow. All I remember is pain (which I’m also not looking forward to). I hope that ovulation starts soon because we want to TTC at the end of the year!
@OttawaBride2011: How have your symptoms been since coming off of BC? My face has broken out, but that’s about it. i hear horror stories about coming off of BC and I’m a bit nervous about my first period. Eep.
@FMM: Holy cow! CD 72! Part of me hopes that AF stays away for a while, since my wedding is in 53 days and I would like to enjoy it and the honeymoon! I’m glad i came off BC early, though. If this were happening when I was TTC, I’d be going nuts already!
By The Way, I tested and negative! That’s good at least. I’d be a little pissed if my dress didn’t fit right! Thanks ladies!

It took me 3 months off the Nuva Ring to get a period and even then it was REALLY, REALLY light. I didn’t get a normal period until 8 months or so after I came off.
