I LOVE READING PEOPLE’S POSTS ABOUT THEIR FIRST DANCE.
I think Mr. Paully & I have finally decided on a song. It’s a fast song. We are doing a traditional Jewish ceremony, so after the ceremony we will make it a little more modern. We’ll have the band MC introduce our wedding party and us. As soon as our MC introduces us, we’ll hit the dance floor and jam out to “I only wanna be with you” by Dusty Springfield or the Bay City Rollers (whichever version you prefer). It’s fast and fun and will get people up and moving. Then, towards the end of the song, I hope the MC calls everyone out to the dance floor to join the bride and groom for their first dance. Then, we’ll do the traditional dance called the horah. Should be a good time.
My question is: how far in advance should I begin broaching the topic with the band leader if the band has to learn this song as a new song? Is it even appropriate to ask the band to learn a new song or 2 for you? It seems that it would be pretty easy. The song seems like a drum beat and some guitars.
Thoughts? Concerns? Thanks for your feedback!
