My fiance, as much as I adore him, does not love to dance and does not love to be the center of attention… I told him this may be difficult on the day of the wedding!!
I do want to respect that though, of course, and so I’ve been trying to think of what we could do for the First Dance. I know that it’s important, and I would love to do something, but I don’t necessarily think that we need to dance for a whole song by ourselves.
Here was what I was thinking:
– Start off with a nice sweet song, whatever it may be, and then stop the song part way through (a la: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTSHlOdWTGY).
– Because my fiance loves hip hop, I figured we could interject with some old school hip hop song and get some awesome break-dancers to come finish off the song and get the crowd going.
Too much? Ridiculous idea? What do you think?

why dont you join the hip hop dancers yourself it makes it more personal
wea re doing the same
slow sweet song and then breaking into a fast song then back to a slow song
we have everything coordinated

I voted it could be okay. My Fiance and I are a bit nervous to be the center of attention and my Fiance is not a dancer in any capacity but I just kind of think that the first dance should be about you. I think it’s a special moment that a couple can share together and I wouldn’t want anything or anyone taking away from that or upstaging us, etc. It’s your wedding though so you should do whatever the heck you want to do. I think people would think it very entertaining and unique.

We wanted to learn something but didn’t have time to. We did the awkward clutch and sway, but really, we just chatted for the whole 3 minutes. It was pretty sweet, and quite honestly, one of the rare "us" moments we had that day, as we were so busy talking to everyone!
