What is yours? Does it have any signifigance to you and your fiance? Share!
My fiance and I are both Irish Catholic, so we looked for traditional Irish wedding songs. We nixed that idea and decided to go with a song from one of our favorite bands, The Pogues "Broad Majestic Shannon". In the parts that are just music, we are going to Irish step dance. It sounds a little hokie, but its actually pretty cool! And, I’ve never seen anyone else do it.

Our first dance song is "Crazy Love" by Van Morrison. We didn’t really have a song that was significant to us, so we just came up with a list of ideas then picked this one. My fiance originally kind of wanted to choose another Van Morrison song, but our best friends used it for their wedding song a couple of years ago.
cindylouwho, I think your Irish step-dance will be really memorable and fun for you and your guests! π

Hokie? I’d say it’s more like AWESOME!
We got married in Rome so the husband and I danced to "Mambo Italiano" by Dean Martin. We took a month and a half worth of mambo lessons. Thankfully, we made it through our first dance and lived to tell about it.

We’re doing a Lindy Hop swing dance. The natural choice seems like Squirrel Nut Zippers, but I think we’re going to go with a traditional swing song.

we are thinking of bringing out a classic monster ballad or a classic huey lewis song. we sing these kind of songs to each other at the top of our lungs in the car. most of our friends will find this cute and fun while other people will think we are full of cheesy goodness. either way, it will be fun and memorable for us.
i think your step dance will be fun and memorable. best wishes!

we’re dancing to Allman Bros "Soulshine." It’s our song in so many ways, we never even considered dancing to anything else, although we did consider the Gov’t Mule cover of the same song, but decided that we like the original better.

our song… for now at least… is "bless the broken road" by rascal flatts. word by word, it describes our journeys toward each other. but we also found another one we liked that’s just as great… but we’ll see!

We want a classic, timeless song by someone like Sinatra, Dean Martin, or Etta James for our first dance. We’ve bandied around the possibility of "At Last" for months, and after the Obamas used it for their inauguration dance last night, we might just HAVE to use it. π
Another favorite is "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?", though we’re thinking we’ll probably use that for our last dance, instead, since the lyrics would really end the night on a beautiful note (no pun intended!).

When Barack and Michelle danced to "At Last" at the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball, I have to say I got the chills! That song is always a winner. π

We are using Bryan Adam’s "I’ll always be right there" for our first dance. It is a BEAUTIFUL song. We are using the unplugged version and cuting out the very beginning part. If you haven’t heard it before, check it out on itunes or something. Ahhh, every time I hear it, I love my soon-to-be hubby more and more. π

We are going to dance to "Long Trip Alone" by Diercks Bentley. It seems like such a downer of a song but when you listen to the lyrics they’re really sweet. We didn’t really have a "song", but we always dance together in our kitchen to this.

We’ve narrowed it down to "The Promise" by Tracy Chapman and "Stay with You" by John Legend….thoughts?

I love the songs with stories behind them. Anything that evokes the feeling of love is a winner.
