I am getting married in 7 weeks and I have all my music picked except for our first dance song. I am having a lot of trouble finding something that really fits. I like a few country songs, but my fiance has vetoed anything country as he really doesn’t like it.
I want a song that is easy to dance to (neither of us are dancers), but not too fast or too slow. It should have either drums or guitar as the main instrument, with a nice beat.
Does anyone know any songs that may meet these criteria?
Some of the songs I had considered but cannot use are:
Bless the broken road – Rascall Flatts
When you say nothing at all – Alison Krauss
Then – Brad Paisley
Hopefully this gives you an idea of the kind of song I am looking for.
We are planning to do “Then” by Brad Paisley- so beatiful! But if he doesn’t like country, have you considered “All of Me” by John Legend? That is my backup choice, but my Fiance does like country and wants “Then.”
EDIT: I know “All of Me” is piano based, but it is really easy just to sway back and forth to something like that, rather than actually have to dance to a beat.

My Fiance and I struggled deciding our first dance song as well, but we have chosen Little Big Town’s song “Sober”. It’s a bit quirky but the lyrics are sweet and the song itself is nice to dance to. We’ve played it during our dance lessons and has fit for a first dance really well!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2gK1mLbJKE
Edit: I just read that your fianice does not want country! How about “I don’t wanna miss a thing” Aerosmith. Very sweet song! Maybe LOVE from Michael Buble, “let’s stay together” Al Green. These are all very different songs! Let me know if you need more suggestions I have songs for days on my phone lol.

Come What May from Moulin Rouge. Fiance are doing How Do I Live by Trisha Yearwood, but that’s country, otherwise I recommend it! Out of your choices I love When You Say Nothing At All, although I like the Ronan Keating version.
I really want to have the instrumental of Slow Love Slow by Nightwish as our first dance song. It has guitars, bass, and is neither too fast or too slow. The only thing is it is kinda long so it would probably need to be cut off at a certain point.
