I’m just wondering how many of you pay close attention to the lyrics insongs in weddings.
Here is the song I am thinking for our first dance:
Joshua Radin – I’d Rather Be With You
It’s a beautiful song, but basically, the underlying message of the song is implying that the girl had to wait a long time for the guy to decide he was ready, eg. “You waited on me for so long”.
This probably wouldn’t be a problem for many couples. However, by the time we get married we will have been together for 8 years (and secretly engageed for 7 – but that’s another story). I don’t want to imply that it was his fault we waited so long to get married because he was hesitant! Because it was not him at all, rather a mutual decision due to studies, age, finances and life situation. Will people hear those lyrics and take the wording literally?
I really love the song, it is a great length (< 3 mins!) and a great tempo to dance to. Am I thinking too much about this?
