Push is definetly at the top of my list.
As is At Last.
I’m also currently loving I Will Show You Love (Kendall Payne) and Song for the Asking (Simon and Garfunkel).

Thank goodness I have time!

we did "stolen" by dashboard confessional and all our friends (guys included) said they were crying!  every time i hear it i get all choked up too.  i know it’s a top 40 song which we dind’t really want, but we were deciding between that and marc cohn’s "true companion" and a lot of people on his side of the family had that as "their" song, so we went with the one geared more for our generation.  it makes me so happy to listen to it!

"our" song is really "heaven" by dj sammy – but it talks about lying down and stuff so we thought that wasn’t appropriate haha.

For some reason, really only known to us, our song has been "Breathing"  by Lifehouse.  We were able to dance to that, but I found myself signaling to the DJ to cut it early near the end.  It was kinda long!!  Other than that, we did the Bridal Party dance to "Inside Your Heaven", and had a amazing vocalist, who is a family friend.  Had I know she was as great as she is, our first dance would SO have been to "Faithfully" by Journey!!

I’m wierd in the we had two first dance songs.  We’ve both lost parents – so there was no daddy/daughter dance and no mother/son dance.  I kinda wanted to avoid this stuff altogether since the day was already sooo full of emotion.  But also knew I really wanted a first dance song!  We didn’t really have normal dancing at the wedding so we did our first dance after pics and before we headed to dinner on the same deck we got married on.

It took me a long time to choose because some songs I’d love one verse – but then another verse wouldn’t fit.  I’m a country fan so decided on It’s Your Love by Tim & Faith (even though it’s so common :)) and I Loved Her First by Heartland as a tribute to my daddy.  Or course I cried – but tears aren’t always bad.  It was really special to dance with my new husband to that song and feel so close to my daddy too ๐Ÿ™‚

Of course my husband didn’t really care what I choose ๐Ÿ˜‰  His job was just to show up ๐Ÿ™‚

Our song is The Cure’s "Love Song" but that’s not great for dancing, so we danced to "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds.

We still have not finalized our first dance song but some close friends of ours did "Always" by Erasure and I have to say it was a huge hit.   It starts off slow and as soon as it picked up the couple broke away from each other, waved the rest of the bridal party onto the dance floor and cut a rug.  One of my favorite memories! ๐Ÿ™‚ I desperately want to use the same song but my fiance doesn’t want to copy them.  I have some kind of silly ideas in general, like "Just can’t get enough" by Depeche mode and Counting Crows "Accidentally in Love" (from Shred!).  I know these songs aren’t terribly romantic but they are songs that have such a happy easy to dance to beat.

Weird! Our song is the the 311 version of "Love Song."

I became obsessed with it the summer before I met him and made it my ringtone, turned out he was a HUGE 311 fan and was completely impressed that was my ringer.

However, our wedding is so far away I have no idea if we’ll dance to that or not.  It is kind of an awkward song to slow dance to.

I love country and he hates it, so choosing a song will be interesting.

For my father/daughter dance, I really want to dance to a John Prine song "Daddy’s Little Pumpkin."  One of the lines is: "You must be Daddy’s Little Pumpkin I can tell by the way you roll."  However, the rest of the song is just like a John Prine: a little black humor and lots of honesty. Not to mention it is a pretty up-tempo song.

I’m so far from making these decisions, I wish it were a bit closer!  How fun!

PS: I remember reading that one of the Bees  practiced dancing at home and I will be doing that.  All of those people staring!

We are doing 311 Love Song too! I love it but it will be hard to dance to but I like it that it is short…

I want to be introduced to I’m a Believer but not sure

one of our songs is john hiatt’s ‘have a little faith in me’, perfect for so many reasons– including the fact that we’ve been together for 9 years! the only problem: it’s not really a good song to dance to. we’re trying to figure that one out…

another song i’d love to dance to is patty griffin’s ‘heavenly day’– i fell in love with it the first time i heard it, but it lacks the personal history of ‘have a little faith’. bettter for dancing though… we’ll see!

We don’t have a ‘song’ either – we have bands…like Radiohead, but they have no "suitable" first dance songs.  I’d ideally like to use Naive Melody (This Must Be The Place) by Talking Heads – but its not so much a slow dance – and my Fiance is worried about that.  I’d love to use Better Together, but we have close friends that have used that recently….

I love the song We are Man and Wife by Michelle Featherstone. I’m not sure if we’ll dance to it or not

strwbry313…take a listen to Christopher O’Riley (plays Radiohead).  He’s a pianist that has transcribed Radiohead (as well as other’s) music to the piano.  Perhaps they are a bit more suitable for dancing.

I love his music, and Radiohead’s, and will be incorporating it into our cocktail hour.

Help, so okay, what do you do if your father is passed. I’m sad that I won’t get to do a Father/Daughter dance…

Then there is my son. But he’s only 12 years old. He’s as tall as me (5"4 3/4"), but will probably be taller than me come time of my wedding on 2/16/2008.

Can anyone give some advice? What son would be good? Should I even do a Mom/Son dance? Since he’s the one giving me away?

Kenny Chesney’s "You Had Me From Hello". The fact that my Darling Husband really felt this way was the clencher for me. We printed the lyrics to the song inside the menu – ppl enjoyed reading the lyrics as we twirled to our first song as husband and wife!
