My first day dress shopping was actually about a week ago, but I am just getting around to posting. I went to David’s Bridal….with the goal of trying on all styles of dresses to see which styles I like on me. I didn’t like any except for the sweetheart necklined gowns with tulle skirts and tight fitting waists. I don’t plan on buying at DB- I just wanted a starting point for which gowns to try on in the future.
I really like the style of this dress- the tulle, the tight bodice, the sweetheart neckline, the princess look.
So…my question…what do you all think of the dress, and in particular, the dress on me? Any suggestions for other dresses/styles that I could try? Anyone know of any AA or Maggie dresses that are similar to this?
I’m 5’2”, average weight, and size 8-9 pant size (“street size”). Help appreciated! 🙂

I like the dress but I am not crazy about the sash below the chest. Did you get a chance to try on any of the White dresses? There are two tulle ones that are stunning, especially one with a side flower. I tried it on and loved it and I am the same height and size.

@tksjewelry: I didn’t like the sash either, or the flower really. I just liked the fit, if that makes sense. I haven’t tried on any of Vera’s White Line, they weren’t in when I went to DB 🙁 But, I definitely will!

I think a natural waist would look better on you; however, it might just be the dress that is throwing me off. The dress just doesn’t look comfortable on you.

This is the one I was talking about, I love it.

BTW- doesn’t the model’s waist just disgust you??!! Aaagghhh I wish they’d use real women!

not to crazy about the sash

No the waist does not disgust me at all. I think its kind of rude to say. She is a real woman, just skinnier than you.

@FutureMrsMcDermott: I hope that was photoshopped. At least most of the women on their pictures look better than most of the runway models they use.
I love the shape of that first dress but I’m with everyone else, the sash was so wrong. I went to DB before I found my dress at another store, and I felt like the select wasn’t big enough or something. Plus, it was 4 or so months ago and the sales lady still calls me.
