What did you use to hold the baby’s breath in? Floral foam? If so, how did you get the floral foam to stay on the candle holder? I am also doing baby’s breath and I’m not sure how to get the foam to stay on the top and yet not drip water on the table (since I’m told to soak it in water to keep the flowers hydrated).
Also–we went to Home Depot and bought stair spindles for $2 each, cut 6 inches off each end and then screwed it to a wood base–it’s tall enough and cheap. Then I spray painted the whole thing gold. My plan was to screw a plastic bowl to the top to hold the floral foam but I’m trying it out at Christmas so I’m not sure yet if that will work. Suggestions welcome!

I have heard that a ot of grocery stores and chains get the picked over left over flowers. So whatever the wholesaler doesn’t sell to the florists they sell to the grocery stores. Therefore it is older stock and usually doesn’t last as long, but with baby’s breath I don’t think that would matter much.

Good Job this is a great alternative to the heavy price of fresh flowers if it’s not in your budget.
Looks good. ~Kay

there is a nail/screw at the top of the candleholder that we just stuck the floral foam right on to. if the foam is going to drip water, then i think it is TOO soaked. i didn’t soak mine just because i was doing a prototype and it kept is shape for 36 hours. it didn’t start to look wilted until a full day of sitting on my coffee table. therefore, if you are just using them for the wedding you don’t really need to soak your foam too much.
and yes, i just used a HALF floral foam ball. it is the 7 7/8 inch size.
