I’m trying to get the envelopes done for our STD’s and running into some problems. I really didn’t want to spend a lot of money on these so I just ordered some magnets form Vistaprint and some silver envelopes.
First problem: when trying to print our guest’s addresses on the envelopes, some started coming out smudged or with streaks. It was happening randomly and then it was like every other envelope…big waste of envelopes! So I decided to stop and call my printer’s customer service line. They were able to tell me how to change one setting which seemed to fix the problem. Then everything was fine but the printer would jam every once in a while. More wasted envelopes.
Second problem: this summer I ordered a cute circular return address stamp, self-inking because I thought that would make each stamp even. How foolish of me. The stamp had one part that would make an unwanted line on each impression. So being the resourceful person I am, I decide to use a knife, scissors, cuticle trimmer and tweezers in an attempt to remove the raised line of rubber from the stamp. Thought I got it and started stamping envelopes. I did not fix the problem, the ugly line was still there and I couldn’t get it perfectly straight.
Ugh! I’m so frustrated this was supposed to be a cheap project and now I feel like I wasted 30 bucks on the dumb stamp, I’m going to have to buy more envelopes, and probably some return address labels too. Now I’m debating whether to order some labels from vistaprint or to go up to office depot and buy some and try printing them at home. Vistaprint is the easiest option, but I can’t seem to find clear labels, and I really didn’t want to stick an ugly white sticker on my pretty silver envelopes 🙁
The worst part, I know that really people probably wouldn’t think twice about any of this, but I’ve spent so much time and effort on it already that I still care!!
Sorry, long rant, needed to vent. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has wanted to scream over a project, so let’s hear your DIY rants and vents… It will make you feel better I promise 🙂
