So I just finished our “Mr” and “Mrs” signs for the backs of our reception chairs. I like them but one thing that’s driving me a bit crazy is the split in the wood/letters…but I tend to focus on silly details like that. The wood was only $2 at Targets dollar bin so if I have to scrap them it wouldn’t be a loss. Are they good as is or should I get solid pieces of wood and re-do? They’re still a bit wet from the wood stain which is why they’re a bit shiny.

Super cute! Those will look wonderful!

I think they’re cute! I don’t even think they look cheap…. Which is always a risk with DIY! be proud of them! The split from the wood in the letters is noticeable, but looks like it was done on purpose, like distressed wood.

I really like them too! Very cute!
I have a tendency to want to be a perfectionist when it comes to doing my own DIY projects so I understand you being extra critical when looking at them, but trust me, nobody else will notice the splits if you don’t point them out. Plus I like that look better myself than one solid piece of wood.

OMG I’m jealous! These look so nice! I don’t even notice the gap really. It makes it look rustic. I hope to find something like that for mine. Where did the wooden hearts come? Target?? I dont’ recall seeing these… hey if you want to scrap ’em… scrap ’em this way…. 😉

I actually like the little breaks. It’s give it more of that rustic wood theme because it doesn’t come off as “fake” wood. Looks great!
