So… the title says it all… here is a pic of me (around 130 lbs, maybe a little less) in my dress when I ordered it (I ordered the sample size because it fit awesomely:
Do you think an extra 10 lbs on my frame (5’4”) would look aweful? I am afraid to leave the bridal store with regret tonight 🙁
If I need to… Is losing 10 lbs in less than 2 months realistic?
Darn it *O.My.Heart*, why did you need to buy all those Starbucks Lattés? Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy

With a lace-up back that dress should be pretty forgiving for 10 pounds. Don’t stress yet. Not only are seamstresses pretty talented folks, you’ve got enough time to get back to your fighting weight.
Losing 10 pounds in less than 2 months is doable, but may not exactly be a pleasant process. Work out a bit more, count your calories (to a reasonable number, don’t starve yoruself), cut the things you KNOW you shouldn’t eat (like that Starbucks…) and you should see results.

It’s a lovely dress! IMO, you should be fine. The corset on the sample that is pictured is actually a little close together. And if you look, the modesty panel is puckering in the center because the dress is laced too closely. Take a deep breath and enjoy your fitting!!!

you’re small! Doubt ten pounds is going to make you look bad:) At least you have a corset back! Dress is beautiful by the way:)

I’m sure you will be fine given the corset back! 10 lbs is definitely doable in 2 months if you are strict about it! DH lost 30 lbs in 2.5 months for our wedding.

You should be ok since you have the corset back. Also if it is a little tight in the hips most gowns can be let out up to 2 inches at the side seams.

@O.My.Heart: I second other PPs that the dress should be very forgiving to an extra 10 lbs. However if you want to lose it in about 2 months it is extremely doable. You just have to stay focused and try really hard!

Definitely doable. You’ll have to see when you go to the fitting. Sometimes the sample dresses are a little stretched out from being tried on so many times. But the corset back should help

@ArtDecoDC: Thanks for replying, I appreciate it!
@Mrs Canuck: Taking a deep breath as we speak, thank you 🙂
@jen 42713: Thanks so much. Your story helped me relax a bit, lol. Love your dress btw, fits you nicely.
@Birdi: Thank you so much!
Well at least I know it’s achievable! I’ll give everyone an update after the fitting! I might even post new pics… We’ll see what difference 10lbs make!
Thank you all again 🙂

Drink lots of water and uptake your cardio a bit! The ten pounds should come fairly easy, plus as other bees suggested lace ups are forgiving. It all depends where you gained the weight too, right? But seriously. Drink a ton of water each day and it will flush your system and help you lose some of the water weight your body is storing. And then just add some workinG out in. Remember, its less than a pound a week!

@O.My.Heart: You’ll be okay! That’s what corsets backs are for 🙂 Let us know how it fit though!

@O.My.Heart: 10 pounds in 2 months should be pretty doable… updates?

Here is the update y’all!
Pics from first fitting:
They added a hoop thing (crinaline) underneath to add volume and keep the dress in place.
The lady kinda talked me into it saying that the hoop makes it easier to walk in the dress (It’s true actually, with the hoop, the dress doesnt get caught between my legs and it kinda pushes the hem away from my feet when I walk so it’s less likely that I will step on my dress – it also makes it easier turn around in the dress). She also said that it displays the detailing better, like you can actually see the dress now…
What do you girls think?
I kinda fell in love with the sample dress the way it was, but I also like the ease that comes with the hoop… Is there a big difference. I don’t want to look TOO mermaid-ish…
Thoughts and advice appreciated!!!!!!
(I realize the fit looks weird at the bottom of the corset… The stiching came undone a bit for some reason… Once they fix it it will be a nice fit – just like when I ordered it 🙂
