- Wedding: September 2013 - The Gables at Chadds Ford
Does this happen to other people or just me? First, I bought a wedding dress I didn’t love, only to go back and purchase the very first one I tried on. (That’s a whole other topic to write about!) Now, I have jewelry that I’m not sure I love either. Don’t get me wrong, the jewelry is gorgeous, I just don’t know if its me.
I like to shop alone. However, I know my wedding is exciting for other people too, so of course my family wants to come help me shop and help me pay for things. I don’t want to seem ungrateful at all and I would never be able to afford what my family has offered to help me with, but maybe I’m just not an expensive jewelry kind of girl.
Here is my current dilemma: My fiance’s sister is paying for my wedding jewelry as a gift to me and my fiance’s mother offered to take me shopping yesterday for jewelry (my wedding is not until September 2013.) So, we tried on every piece of jewelry we could find in Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s, passing by all the ones my fiance’s mother said weren’t “high enough quality” or “meant for weddings.” Ultimately, I found three sets I thought I loved- she bought ALL of them for me, so we could go try them on with my dress. I chose the gold set, and now I wonder if I would be better off with a different necklace at least. I feel like the neckline is too traditional- maybe a pendant necklace would be better?
Our venue is an old dairy barn that is now a restaurant thegablesatchaddsford.com), and the look we’re going for is sort of rustic/vintage. I guess I orginally pictured myself in something super simple- like Lucky Brand jewelry, or sort of brass colored? My biggest issue is that we spent ALL day shopping for jewelry. We were at the mall and trying on my dress with the jewelry for seriously like five hours. If I had gone by myself, I would have no issues returning the jewelry, but I feel horrible even telling my fiance’s mom that I may want to return everything and start over. :/
Has anyone else gone through this? Suggestions? Thanks Bees!

Here is the jewelry I ended up getting:
(disregard the sash- I don’t think I am going to wear it)
The gold jewelry is all from Nordstrom. It’s Nadri brand and was kind of pricey- around $500 which is actually more than I paid for my dress! The last two picturs are things I found on Etsy.
Please post pictures if any of you went the vintage, rustic, “non-expensive”, or “different” jewelry route for your wedding! Suggestions would be helpful!
