So I went dress shopping today at David’s Bridal by myself to test the waters, and may have found a dress. Here are my top pics. Mind you, I want to lose a little weight and I have a year before the wedding, but I was pretty happy walking out of there. I want to try on dresses at a couple of local bridal consignment shops before I purchase anything because I’m not sold on the quality of DB, but I am a bride on a budget!
This was a very informative trip. I completely changed my mind about what looks good on me (silhouette wise). I appear to do best in an A-line or fit and flare with a dropped waist. It accentuates the hourglass figure without making me look too heavy.
Let me know what you think of the pics! They seem to be showing up in a different order than how I uploaded and named them, so I hope it’s not confusing.
EDIT: The images are showing up in the opposite order of how I loaded them, so the first one is dress 6, the second dress 5, etc., except for the last two, which are switched.

I really like the chiffon and lace dresses on you best! The ballgown look with the bow looks like the skirt is overpowering you a bit, so I would stick with a style that is more fitted at the waist and stomach – which is what you liked best according to your post!

i voted for the one with the flower at the waist…… i love the sideways draping on it too…. very pretty……. i think it flatters your figure best as well……

That chiffon dress make your waist tiny! It’s a nice style on you

That second dress is amazing on you.

That’s a nice choice of dresses all together! I like no.3 best, but I think you can go with either one, depending on which one suits your personality best.

The 2nd dress looks divine on you!!

i like either the chiffon or the lace dresses, the others seem like too much fabric!

The second dress looks awesome 🙂

I like 2, 3, and 4
2 – very form fitting love the lace and embellishments
3 – love the ruching and the side flower and side drapings
4 – love the ruching but its kind of plain maybe a really cute sash or embellished belt

2 or 4. i’d marry you in one of those!

They all look great, but number 2 is my favorite.

You have a great sense of style, but I don’t think any of these are really flattering on you. The ballgown with the high waist has the strongest effect of making you look larger than you are. Please don’t be offended – I have this exact same problem. The sweetheart with the brooch is pretty good, but I think you can do better (personally I don’t like the lines into the brooch – that’s just me). Definitely try consignment shops – high end gowns tend to be cut better and you can find a higher end gown for a good price if it’s used.

I like the 4th and 5th ones on you the best. I tried on a couple of those too and like you was not sold on the quality. I thought they were pretty but none of them made me feel like a bride, or not like a once in a lifetime dress. No offense to anyone. I think for me it was the fabric or something. I don’t know what your budget is but I got a dress (Mori Lee) for $500.00 at a bridal salon in Indiana. There are quite a few dresses by her and some other designers that are the same price as the dresses at Davids, If not less than. Good Luck!

CRAP! I voted for the wrong one:( I like the one with the beaded work at the waist. So pretty on you and you look so much happier in that photo!
