I had my first “real” bridal appointment yesterday, and tried on about 8 or 10 different dresses. I wasn’t planning on buying, but just wanted to get some ideas about specific styles, fits, etc.
Would love to hear which ones you like best!
To give you the background, our wedding will be outdoor, either in a garden (at a golf course, where we have a tentative booking) or on the beach (where I really want to get married, but has all sorts of logistical problems). The vibe we are going for is simple elegance, and it is definitely going to be more of a “relaxed” or “casual” style wedding. Bridesmaids will likely be in something simple and possibly vintage-styled.
So there you go. Which dress(es) do you like best?
Dress #1 – SO beautiful, but I’m not sure if it’s the best look for me or if it really suits our theme. Seems too formal to me.
Dress #2 – really dislike the faux-feather look, but i LOVe the dress from the knees up (specifically the bodice & chiffon).
Dress #3 – Nice & Simple. But feels a bit too wedding-y for me. PLus it was $2500 which seems INSANE for such a basic dress
Dress #4 – My fave 🙂 The longer I wore this, the more I loved it! I think it suits the location(s) and style of our wedding.

I really love the shape of #1 on you. It makes your body look FAB. I understand why you like #4, though, because it’s soft, airy, and goes along with the casual feel you are going for. However, I think #4 is a beach dress and #1 is a garden dress. You’re the bride – you can never be too dressed up. Good luck!

- Wedding: October 2011 - Bed & Breakfast
Dress #1 without question. I think it would work well with a garden or beach setting.

I couldn’t even vote because you look awesome in everything. Number 1 was super pretty, but that’s totally just because it’s my taste. They all looked so great, I’m pretty sure you could pull off anything

You are all way too kind! I’m surprised that the lace mermaid style is getting so many votes! But very appreciated 🙂

I love the look of #4 on you, and for the feel of your wedding. It’s gorgeous and it’s girlish. If you want a more formal one, go with #1.

I really like the deep sweetheart of the fourth dress on you.

Dress number 3 is the most flattering on you. I think I’d like the first dress better without the belt.

I love dress 1!!! The other two are too plain, and the more I look at #4 it looks like curtains to me.

@MrsTVLover: curtains! LOL! I can see what you mean 😉

I like 1 and 4. I mean, I actually really like 2 but if you’re not crazy about the feather look, definitely steer clear.

1 is beautiful but it’s a bit more formal and I think 4 works better for the vibe you are going for.

The first one is GORGEOUS, and definitely looks like a garden wedding to me 🙂

@hopestruck: I love love love the first dress on you! it is very flattering and elegant. i also feel as if you could totally dress it down with maybe a ribbon sash instead of the crystal belt.
however, if youre in love with the last dress, go with your gut!!! afterall, it is your wedding (:

I don’t really love any of them, to be honest. I think you are right that Dress 3 is way too expensive for what it is, and while I like Dress 1, you don’t think that it matches your wedding look, and so then I say, so why would you consider it? I don’t actually like Dress 4 at all. I think the lace does not look as elegant as it could. My favorite is Dress 2 purely because it fits you the best. The top of it is very flattering on you. I also think that is an easy top to find on other dresses, so why not keep looking and find that top on a dress with a different bottom. Dress 2 has a similar top to Dress 4, but I still think Dress 2 is more flattering.
