So i bought my dress a little while back second hand, and the wedding is in 4 months so i am having my first fitting this week from a bridal shop to sort out my alterations.
As the title says is there anything I should know or bring or do?
Is there any alterations anyone can suggest to make the dress as flattering as possible?

I just had my first fitting last week all I took were my shoes and a couple of different bra options because I wasn’t sure what would work with my dress.
as far as alterations for your dress maybe look at getting the sleeves shortened so they sit at your wrists and the top of the dress appears a bit long at the back maybe ask if it can get taken up at the shoulder seems.

Bring all undergarments and your shoes.

Bring your shoes, bra or sewn in bra cups, or a slip or anything you plan on wearing under your dress. Ask your seamstress about what kind of bustle would work well with your dress.
I recommend you eat before going and drink plenty of liquids. It wouldn’t hurt to bring a water bottle with you as well. I felt kind of dizzy at my second alteration appointment so if you ever feel a little light headed don’t be afraid to ask to sit down and take a break.

Thanks ladies. So am i supposed to have bought the slips and stuff by now?? I was planning on losing a little weight so i was going to buy the slips then and since i doubt ill lose a hell of a lot the last alterations would just be to take it in a suppose.

You should definitely get slips before alteration. if you get your dress hemmed without crinoline/petticoat, it might end up too short when you wear it under the dress. The fit around bra may be off if you wear diffent bra or shapewear
