Sorry you’re feeling disappointed with how it went. It’s really hard to go to fittings without somebody else’s objective opinion. Can you post some pictures?

jofits:  your dress will still be beautiful I’m sure.

I am sorry you’re disappointed but I’m sure your Bridesmaid or Best Man didn’t intentionally abandon you. I honestly didn’t even know people had people go with them for alteration appointments. I wasn’t planning on having company but I guess my alterations would be pretty minimal due to the style of my dress.

Best of luck and I’m sure you’ll make a gorgeous bride.

jofits:  Here’s the thing, you don’t like your shoulders – that’s cool, I hate my arms. But with hair, veil, dress, your beautiful, smiling face, all anyone is going to see is the complete package and no one is going to think, ‘Gee, she doesn’t have much shoulder definition’

It’s nice to have somebody at your fitting. I’m more of an independent person and actually only took my aunt shopping for my dress initially so she could have that “mother/daughter” dress experience. I basically tried on 25 dresses, picked my own, and as far as the fitting I MIGHT take somebody, but probably not. Only planning on taking my Maid/Matron of Honor for the final fitting so she can learn to bustle.

I’ve always found that sales ladies are really good at giving opinions, probably better than friends/family with conflicting styles. Sales ladies know what look good together bridal wise and what doesn’t. A good store won’t pressure a sale unless they truly think it’s the best look for the bride.

P.S. I love the simplicity and elegance of your dress! If you have narrow shoulders it should probably be taken in from the back a bit and shortened on the sleeves. Cap sleeves can work IF altered correctly.

Wow…I see nothing wrong with your shoulders! Damn…I’m jealous,  actually. ..you are SLIM!!!

And I love the “simpleness” of your dress.  You’re right…it doesn’t wear you.  And with some nice jewelry you’re good to go!
