I was sooo nervous to go to my fitting. Not only did I have to get up at 5am to catch the train on a saturday it had been over a year. My measurements were between sizes, my consultant wanted to order the smaller size, I was hesitant but she was the dress expert so I trusted her. I had lost weight in the beginning of the year, then I lost my job, got sad and gained weight, trying to loose the few extra lbs still. I was so scared it wasnt going to zip, thank god it did.
I read a ton of awful reviews about the alterations department and for the ridiculously expensive flat fee that we prepaid, I was expecting it be awful and was considering bringing it home with me. We waited nearly 20 minutes for the seamstress to come down. So it didnt start well. She spoke broken english and I couldn’t quite pinpoint her accent. But once she heard my mother and I speaking spanish she told us she was from ecuador and boom enter the bilingual appointment. She was farrr more thorough (likely because she could communicate better) and did everything I wanted.
Soooo how about my camera died at my fitting. I was so sad I hadnt used it in so long and forgot to charge it. So we had to use the crappy blackberry cameraphone. Next time I shall make sure the battery works! So without further ado in the order which they were taken:
Wearing shoes, pre hem chop and pre pinning (the bra strap cleary wont be there):
Close up of the back and front reflection:
After chopping the hem and pinning the bustle. Cups were pinned in so bra strap is gone (notice the girl nearby in planeta she cut a TON of crinoline off):
From the front (She’s going to cinch the sides a smidge more and next time I’ll wear better underwear):
After waiting over a year to see it, anxiety was killing me while seeing a ton of other dresses in the interim. Thank goodness I’m still crazy about it.
Fun fact: Sarah from SYTTD works there now. So does manager Elise. Everyone stopped them and was all “you’re on tv!”
Hope you enjoyed them!
