So I tried on my actual dress for the first time today, and I was so disappointed. I knew that it would fit a little different and feel different from the sample, but I didnt think it would be SO different. The sample size was oddly a 4 and way too tight on my chest so we ordered up a size. But the bottom of the sample fit perfect. Now my dress fits nice on top, bad through hips, thighs and butt. The silouhette and fit of the dress was the reason I bough it. I am really praying the alterations are able to turn the dress back to what I imagined with the sample.
Can anyone share their stories about trying on their dress for first time? If it was different than the sample, were alterations able to change it to something perfect?

I feel the same way about my dress. The sample fit perfectly but I wasn’t able to squat enough (I didn’t know squatting mattered!) according to the woman at the bridal shop so she ordered one size up. I haven’t taken my dress to a tailor yet…I’m too worried!

if you have a good seamstress you will be fine – they will tailor that dress to fit you perfectly. No need to worry just yet.
ETA: when you go back for the second fitting don’t be scared to be really vocal about you want and how you want it to look – they wont know if you dont tell them.

That happened to me with my first wedding dress. (I was engaged before this one years ago).
Anyway, the sample size fit PERFECTLY and I was totally in love with it. When my actual dress came in it was tight on top and big on the bottom. NOTHING like the fit of the sample, and I actually hated it. They ordered another one fore me in the next size up to fit my bust and it was even worse than the first one.
I ended up just having them clean the sample dress and I took that one home. Luckily it was a brand new sample so it hadn’t been through a ton of wear and tear.

@ totheislnds Thanks for the advice on being vocal and not settling. I did speak to the alterations manager BEFORE ordering my dress and she was the one who said going up a size woudl suit me best and said there would be no problem taking it in if needed. I guess I just need a little reassurance that alterations can work some magic. Because right now, I just cant imagine it. If I could go back, I wouldve asked to speak to the alterations lady while I was in my actual dress.
