I did my first injection of Ovidrel on Tuesday.  I was super nervous but I was surprised at how easy it was!  Mine went in my lower abdomen.

It’s not bad at all. Don’t even worry about it!

Prettysmile40 :  is it the gonal-f pen? it’s not too bad I’ve been doing it for the past 10 days – sometimes I feel a pinch, but otherwise I don’t feel anything at all. I personally get too anxious to do them myself so I have Darling Husband do it – and I don’t worry about being nice if I think he’s being too casual about it. Now that he’s comfortable he’ll try to make jokes and lighten the mood and last night I snapped “I feel like you don’t take this seriously enough when you crack jokes so just cut it out and be serious and focus”. And if he takes his eyes off the syringe while he’s holding it in my body he gets an earful. If you’d rather do it yourself then just say so. While it’s important for him to feel involved it’s even more important for you to feel comfortable while stabbing hormones into your belly.

Prettysmile40 :  what we did is my Darling Husband “prepped” it for me and got all my alcohol and gauze ready but I have it to myself. That way he still felt involved.  He was excited about giving me shots because he thought they would be in my butt but once he found out they were in my stomach he lost interest LOL! He’s happy now though because I have to take progesterone shots (hello huge long needle!) in my butt every day until confirmed pregnancy starting today (egg retrieval day). So he gets his chance to shoot me in the butt after all.

Good luck, bee! In my experience, my Darling Husband helped with every single injection. I was grateful as I was so worried I’d waste the med or mess up. The whole experience and IVF cycle brought us closer. With regard to those videos, sometimes they are more complicated than what is actually involved. Have a great cycle!! 😀

It’s super easy! So much more stressful than it’s worth!

Just pinch the fat on your belly for a short while before going in straight and fast with the needle, you won’t feel a thing. Once it’s in and your heart stop pumping crazy, push gently all the way and it’s over 🙂

Prettysmile40 :  And dont forget to NOT To release until you pull the needle back out.  If you let go while the needle is still in, it can draw in some blood or something and your pen cannot be used again.  … I learned this the hard way on the first injection of a 900 iu pen.

Prettysmile40 :  glad it went well! I’ve been on 75 units each of gonal and menopur for 11 nights now. I’m hoping after my ultrasound tomorrow I’ll get the go ahead to trigger. Are you on just gonal-f? If so be happy you get to skip menopur because that one does hurt a little bit.
