brideinthesix :  I think it’s completely normal to see the celebrant in a first-kiss photo. Seems like it would be really hard to get one without them in it, since they’re usually standing right there behind the couple. Does the person have a funny look on their face or a weird posture or something, that makes the photo unacceptable?

I just had to go back and look at our pictures to remember if our officiant was in the first kiss picture and yup he is! I also just googled images of first kiss pictures and the officiant is in the majority of them. I would just let this go.

brideinthesix :  As a wedding photographer this is such a huge peeve of mine. I hate officiants in the kiss shots. We’re pretty spoiled in my area with awesome wedding officiants, two in particular I always refer specifically because they step out of the way for the ring exchange and the first kiss.

brideinthesix :  The ability to photoshop her out is going to depend largely on what the background of the picture is. Can we see it?

You’re right, that does look awkward. I wouldn’t think it would be too difficult. There’s nothing crazy going on in the background, theyd just alter the sheet/floor and throw the pillars back in.

brideinthesix :  Check with your photographer to make sure she’s ok with it, but if she is you can send it in to RetouchUp.com and have her taken out. Depending on how skilled your photographer is at retouching, they might want to do it themselves, or they might be ok with you sending it out yourself.

brideinthesix :  It’s definitely doable. Agreed about asking your photographer first. Most do their own editing, but that might be too much for her. I do photoshop on a daily basis, so I could take a crack at it if you need, but I’d need a high quality copy. I actually edited a table out of our first kiss picture. It’s always the first kiss! Haha

brideinthesix :  Definitely double-check. Generally what you get are print rights, not copyright. Photographers don’t release copyright because that means they no longer own the images (and therefor can’t use them for marketing, on their website, etc). I cannot imagine your photographer would not be ok with you either paying them to edit out the officiant or sending it off to be done – but still better to check just in case.

For example, my stuff all says that my clients get a personal print release, allowing them to make lifetime copies for personal, non-commerical use. That includes not editing the images (as they are delivered edited). Retouching is always an additional fee for pretty much every photographer.

brideinthesix :  I totally get why you want to have the officiant cropped out, but I just wanted to say that this picture is absolutely stunning! It looks like something from a movie! The decor, the Maid/Matron of Honor, the best man, the groom, and of course you look perfect! Maybe you should keep the officiant in just so people know it’s not fake!
