I am really torn.

I like the idea of having a private moment to see each other first, as well as less time needed for pictures after the ceremony so you can be a part of your cocktail hour.

However, I also really love the idea of not seeing eachother until I’m walking down the asile to him. I love that traditional feel.

I am very interested to hear what others say.

Going back, there’s no way I would have done it.  Nothing beats the look on B’s face when he saw me walking down the aisle.

I really want to do the first look.  I think it is private and intimate and it would make me feel more comfortable for the ceremony.

My Fiance does not want anything to do with first look pictures.  However, he did tell me that I could see him in his tux.  So maybe we’ll have first look with only me looking? I’m hoping over the next 8 months he caves in and we do the first look.

One of my absolute favorite parts of weddings is when the bride starts down the aisle and the groom sees her as a bride for the first time. It’s so magical to be a part of that, and it sets the tone for the ceremony. 🙂

So, we won’t be doing a first look. It seems to be more about convenience than having a special moment (if we really wanted a few minutes of let’s-soak-this-in alone time, we wouldn’t invite the photographer!). Getting tons of pictures isn’t a first priority for us, it’s a short drive between church/reception, and our ceremony will be at two. It would be more stressful and time consuming to try taking the pics beforehand, in our case. We’ll have plenty of time after the ceremony.

i’m doing the first look because I want to spend as much time at the party after the wedding! The reception is the best part!! I’d rather take the pictures before the ceremony that way we can have time to spend with friends and family we only see once every few years.

I really wanted too. The Fiance is strongly against it.  Our photographer actually suggested it saying that some of her best pictures come from the first look. The FI’s head almost blew off. LOL Needless to say we will not be having a first look.

@Lolasmomma: I think you’d be surprised what a big ball of emotional mush he turns into the closer and closer it gets.  I’m almost positive B cried more than me the week of.  He’s kind of a girl that way. Smile  I actually suggested doing the first look, and he said no.  He wanted the first time he saw me to be when I was walking down the aisle.

On the other hand, I’ve heard from several couples that they loved their time together, just the two of them, during their first look.

We missed our entire cocktail hour doing pictures.  So, take that for what it’s worth.

You guys just have to do what’s best for you.  Each person’s wedding experience is unique to them.  Because it worked for some doesn’t mean it will work for others.  Either way, it’ll be an amazing day.

We’re definitely doing first look and for the same reasoning as @jamiemichelle.
