The “waiting forever” is the biggest reason IMO.

Also, it helped ease my anxiety to see him before, worked with the photog, it was great all the way around!

I’m pretty sure I would have either passed out or been a blubbering mess if I hadn’t seen him before πŸ™‚

@mrsrecon:  We’re not doing a first look, but we are doing some pictures before the ceremony with him blindfolded πŸ™‚

I always dreamed that the first time he saw me would be when I walked down the aisle, but I wanted to take his opinions into consideration. I explained the benefits of the “First look” pics and everything and left the decision up to him. He was very adamant that the first time he saw me would be when I walked down the aisle. And that was reason enough for me πŸ™‚

Do it! I am so glad that we chose to! Like @mchitt329: said, I was a total wreck and seeing him helped calmn me down. It also made for amazing pictures.

@mrsrecon:  No.  That seems really awkward to me, honestly.  100+ people came to see us and I’m just going to ignore them and stare straight ahead during my walk down the aisle?

I think there is a thread around here somewhere where girls post what they’re thinking while walking down the aisle… most of the answers were “donttripdonttripdonttrip!!!!”  There is really no romantic “moment” IMO.

@mrsrecon:  Not at all, he still cried. He originally really didn’t want to do a first look because of that, he was worried it would take away from me walking down the aisle. So I asked him if it was still special and he said it was amazing.

We did it and I am sooooooooooooooooo glad we did! It eased the anxiety and also saved time after the ceremony doing pictures. I would highly recommend it for anyone who is ok with not being 100% traditional:)

@mrsrecon:  Well he ended up surprising me with a limo on the day of so that was awesome. He went to the park where I wanted pictures to be taken. He and then groomsmen took all their pictures and then me and the girls showed up in the limo. Our photographer knew that once we pulled up in the limo my groom needed to get in place and shut his eyes. I got out and walked to him, constantly telling him he better not open his eyes. I picked the place for the pictures because we have a really pretty park. Here are some pictures. I’ve shared these a million times.

He cried the second he turned around. He’s a big baby but I love it!

Also, side note, looking back at my pictures, I wish I didn’t have my bouquet. No one told me to put it down. I don’t like it in the pictures.

I originally didn’t want a first look.  But our ceremony is at 6, and I don’t want to lose the light AND keep our guests waiting on food for hours.  I also want to be selfish – I want that look when we see each other all done up to be just between us, not us and all the guests.  I know I’ll be freaked out and stressed and my normal type A self, so having him there to tell me to breathe will help.

@mrsrecon:  I didn’t want to at first, but now I definitely want to. One, no waiting in between the ceremony and reception because all photos will be taken beforehand. Two, hopefully it will calm us down and not put as much pressure on us when it is time for the ceremony. πŸ™‚

We did one as well and I am so glad we did!!  As others have said it eases the anxiety and there was no way we could have done our pictures after the ceremony so it was a necessity for us.  I loved the moment that we had together!!
