Are you doing a first look? And why or why not? When I first brought up a first look, my Fiance wouldn’t even discuss it. He is really traditional. We finally talked about it, and he decided heliked the idea. Our reasons for having the first look, is 1. we want to make sure we have a few intimate moments alone. We know the day will fly by, and many people will want our attention, so we decided to take this time for ourselves. 2. We are getting married at 3 pm in November in Maine. The sun sets at 4:24 pm that day. So we.decided if we wanted.formal pics outside, a first look might be a good idea.

My husband felt the same way as your Fiance in the beginning! He wouldn’t hear anything of it. But he also reached the same conclusions, and in the end we did a first look and he can’t stop raving about it. 😀 Your first look sounds like it’ll be beautiful!

We didn’t do one for a variety of reasons. If I were you, I would do one, because I would want the pictures outside.

@angelaandchet: i think we’re also doing this as we are having a sunset ceremony and want some daylight photos.
i was a little bit sad i wouldnt have the aisle ‘big reveal’ moment, but my fi doesnt mind the idea. he expected to see me before the ceremony, either for photos or walking down the aisle together (him with his parents, me with mine like we’ve seen in a few other mexican catholic weddings)
where are you doing your first look though? ive seen it done, where the groom is facing in one direction somewhere pretty, and there are photos of the bride walking up to him and tapping him on the shoulder. or he’ll pick you up from where youre getting ready? or how does it work?!

We did first look pictures, but only because we were already planning to have formal pictures done before the ceremony. I don’t think if I were waiting to see my hubby until the alter that I would have done first look pics, but that is how it worked out.
However, after working with our photographers they mentioned to us that they LOVE it when the couple sees each other before the ceremony! They said that couples are more relaxed and happy and the pictures usually turn out better. Also then you’re not rushing to get ALL the shots in between the ceremony and reception.

@pengoala it sounds like your first look was amazing. I’m super excited about ours. n @newname_99 there is a beautiful park 10 minutes from our church, with a gazebo, overlooking the lake. I kind of have that tapping him on the shoulder vision. Besides, I don’t want to forego all tradition, so instead of waiting at the end of the aisle he can wait at the lake =). Oh poor man, I didn’t think about how child it may be…..I guess I’ll just have to warm him up with a big hug.
