@scootied:  Hey there! We did a first look at the hotel I was getting ready at. For us, it just made sense since we wanted an evening wedding (7pm) and it gave us time to get all our pictures out of the way and just enjoy the night. It was really special and didn’t take away from the “reveal” (walking down the aisle) at all! I wasn’t wearing my veil for the first look and it really completed the look for my walk down the aisle. I strongly recommend it! Here’s a pic from the moment.

My Fiance and I have also thought about doing this..since we’re having a fairly short reception we wanted to do a quick photo op before which means we’d have to do the reveal. I dont know if it’ll take away from it.. to me it would seem like it wouldnt be as special..but judging by what people are saying here it doesnt take away from that moment. Can’t wait to hear what other people have to say!

It did not take away from it at all. The feeling when you first see each other at the first look is really special because you know you are getting married in a few hours. The feeling when you walk down the aisle is like “holy shit” this is really happening and i am about to get married! I am so glad we did it, i can’t imagine having to do the posed pics after the ceremony.

@scootied:  Yeah, the first look was definitely a lot of nervous energy and it made me feel so much better to see him. There was something special about walking down the aisle though. The music and the setting really make it special and nothing can compare to that feeling! Knowing that in a few minutes you are going to marry the love of your life πŸ™‚

I am SOOOO glad we did a first look. It took the pressure off, we calmed each other down… we have a very intimate personal moment seeing each other in our best without all our friends and family around. It was one of my favorite parts of the entire day!

(We also got to have some time to take private photos while my hair and makeup were still perfect! AND I got to fix my DH’s collar before he walked down the aisle like that lol)

@Petite_Fraise:  Your dress is absolutely breathtaking. Love, darling, love.

@scootied:  It just made sense to us to have a first look. We didn’t want to have to rush away for photos when socializing with our guests, and we didn’t want to wait until the ceremony to see each other — and it most definitely didn’t take away from the experience of him seeing me come down the aisle. If anything, it helped calm any nerves, and was just a beautiful moment. I LOVED our first look. <3

With a first look you get to relish in the raw emotional moment.. you get to hug, cry, kiss, and bask in the glory of how fabulous the two of you look and feel.. you get private raw moments you will not get at the alter nor will you have time to take it in.. its showtime. Or having that moment with everyone looking at you.

Also you get to actually enjoy your cocktail hour as you can get most of the pictures done before hand. You can make your hello rounds and just enjoy your reception too. How many barely get to eat? The day goes bye in a blink of an eye and doing the first look you can savor the flavor. πŸ˜€
