IMO it is well worth it to take photos ahead of time. We did. Either way, I think that walk down the aisle is extremely special.

I always wanted to do a first look and I’m SO GLAD WE DID.  I was so anxious and irritable most of the morning, once my girls and I were in the room getting ready I was feleing better but I NEEDED to see him and have him to myself for a few minutes before we were thrown into a pack of wolves the rest of the night, lol.  Once I saw him and we had those 15 minutes together everything became calm and relaxed.  I cant rave about first look enough.

I haven’t gotten married yet, so I can’t speak from personal experience, but I’ve researched this question a lot. One reason why I decided to do a first look is because you wedding day will be ivery busy and the day FLIES by. You getting ready, greeting guests, cutting the cake, dancing, and getting pulled in a million directions because everyone wants to talk to you and your fiance! I’ve heard that a first look can be a wonderful moment to just stop and appreciate the fact that you’re getting married with your SO. It’s intimate, because it’s just the two of you and your photographer (in fact, for most people, it’s the only time on their wedding day when they’re alone with their spouse!). That’s why I’m doing a first look…in addition to all of the extra photography time

msteacherbee29 :  did a first look. Don’t regret it at all. And the funny thing? My Fiance Didn’t get at all emotional during the first look – but the picture of his face as I came down the aisle was EVERYTHING. So just because you have a first look, doesn’t mean you still won’t have that moment during the ceremony.

msteacherbee29 :  it will be amazing and special no matter which way you do it. For what it’s worth from giving my experience, we didn’t do a first look and that moment on the aisle was magical. But I have to imagine it’s magical with a first look too.

We did a first look and have no regrets!  It allowed us to have a somewhat emotional moment in private- and have my make up touched up before walking down the aisle. I think I would have lost it if I saw him for the first time on the aisle.  It calmed my nerves to have our first look moment.

I loved the First Look. I thought it was a nice, intimate moment between my soon-to-be-DH and me. Having that quiet opportunity for the two of us was really special, and I loved the pictures of us. Plus, from a purely pragmatic point of view, it saved us some time by getting photos done before the reception, giving us more time with our guests.

We are getting married next September (29th…so tail end) and our ceremony is at 4:45PM.

We are doing a first look for sure. For the following reasons:

#1 – I want to make sure we get our pictures out of the way. I feel like I will be kind of anxious if we don’t (I was kind of a nervous wreck before our engagement pics even!) and I want to feel relaxed at the ceremony.

#2 – Our wedding is already on the later side, and I want to enjoy all the time I can with my guests.

#3 – I don’t want a long cocktail hour, but I also don’t want only 45 min – 1 hour of picture time.

#4 – First looks give a good opportunity to get some great shots of just you and your husband alone.

#5 – I know I will feel more calm seeing him before we walk down the aisle.

#6 – I know I will cry during our first look, so that gives me an opportunity to collect myself before walking down the aisle. I’m sure I’ll still cry, but having seen him right before, I don’t think I’ll cry as much LOL

#7 – I want to be able to enjoy the day with him. Not only after 5PM. We’ll be doing our look that afternoon and that will give us more time to spend together!

#8 – I want this moment to be intimate, not in front of 150 people. Just me, Fiance and our Photog.

msteacherbee29 :  I wish we would have done a first look. I feel like my DH’s reaction may have been more genuine if it was just he and I, and our pictures were way too rushed – we hardly got any picutres of Darling Husband and I because we were behind schedule.

I loved my first look. It was time for us to be alone, there wasn’t a lot of that time on our wedding day and we were so happy to finally be together.

I didn’t wear my veil for our first look and had that and a blusher when I walked down the aisle, for some reason that made me feel like it was almost another look in my full bridal look.
