One of my best friends is pregnant with a little boy! Her and her Fiance are the first in our group to have a baby, and she has confided in my that they want to give him the middle name “Tristan” in honour of one of our best friends who passed away last year.
They are having trouble thinking of a first name and I said I would brainstorm.

@dannielle89: I love Tristan it’s such a great name. It’s my nephews name but it’s his first name. Nothing I can think really flows.

What do you think of Daniel Tristan? That’s such a sweet thing for them to be doing in honour of your friend.

TBH there are so few times that a middle name is spoken with a first name that it almost doesn’t matter. I think the first name depends more on how it sounds with the last name. Too many syllables are awkward. And people really do need to consider how the child will feel about his name as grows up. Very odd names are not cute – they’re embarrassing to kids. Ask any teacher.
I had a friend whose brother died young and she gave her daughter the middle name of Thomas in his honor. Few people ever hear the middle name and I think it’s often used as an honorary or family tradition name. My husband’s middle name is Howard, as is his father’s and his father before him. I love that.

I feel like because it’s a little different a more traditional first name would be nice. For example:
I know those probably seem boring but you could alternate the spelling to make it unique. Just my .02 🙂
