I had my first OB appointment – for first time moms, this may interest you, for others, maybe not so much –
I didn’t know what to expect. I went to the very first appointment where they did all the bloodwork, urine sample, weight, diet, all the questions, all the paperwork, etc. This appointment today is where I met with one of the three doctors who may deliver my baby! I was really excited. I guess at the office I go to there are three doctors, you pick the one you’d like but there are three in case your one isn’t available, etc. I’m not too picky, so I don’t mind at all.
I LOVED the OB! She was soo nice and very cool, fun, but also so informative and professional. She didn’t do much other than check my belly and ask some questions – she said that my baby at 8w5d was still too small to get a good heartbeat so she wasn’t going to try today. (I had my ultrasound last week and heartbeat and everything else was great!)
I’d love to hear about everyone else’s experiences – I didn’t know what was going to happen at all. I’d never heard or read about it before. 🙂

Glad you had a good first apt!
My OB has an orientation as our first apt. They have you fill out tons of paperwork, and then they have a mid wife talk to you about what to expect throughout your pregnancy and at the hospital, the dos and don’ts while pregnant, and they answer all your questions. Then they send you for bloodwork. You don’t actually see the doctor until the next apt.

Glad everything went well! Something got confused in my visits so I didn’t visit with an OB until my 3rd appointment. First visit was with a nurse and was mainly just paperwork, second one I had an ultrasound with a tech but then no OB visit afterwards, and then third visit I had an OB visit, ultrasound (for some reason they didn’t have it noted I’d had an ultrasound the week before and even though I told them she still said well I’ll just look again since I don’t have the pictures), and basic poking around down there. So I think my first OB appointment I was about 10.5-11.5 weeks depending what due date you go by.

My first OB appointment was at 6w 1D. She did an ultrasound, we were able to see the baby’s heartbeat on the ultrasound, I had a pap smear, blood pressure, weight, discussion on diet, vitamins and OTC meds that can and cannnot be taken, and then scheduled the next appointment for 11 weeks. Over all i think the visit lasted about 45 to 50 min. But i had never met the OB before and was glad that i felt comfortable.
