AH! So excited! I just joined WB after months of stalking 0:) Greetings, all!
So my issue of the day involves my FI’s wedding band. Back in November, we went to Jared to look at wedding bands for him. Found the ring we liked, and decided to wait a little before ordering it because it was kind of an impulse to even walk into the store. So the lady wrote down the style number and his ring size. Perfect.
I went back about 2 weeks ago to order the ring, using the information the original sales lady gave me. The ring came back, and it ended up being HUGE. They sized him at a 10.5 in November, and when we went there last week to pick up the ring they sized him at a 9. Which I’m completely baffled by because he hasn’t lost a ton of weight or anything – he’s tall and athletic and a size and a half change seems way bizarre. The ring is a Scott Kay cobalt type ring which they say cannot be resized because of the type of metal alloy that it is.
Should I assume that they totally messed up his sizing the first time, and he was a 9 the whole time? Or should I go the safer (and likely more expensive) route and get him a white gold ring or something that is resizeable?

Can you return it to Jared’s and just order a new one in the correct size?

When you purchased the ring did you get a warrenty. Normally that will cover any resizing, but in your case they will completely replace the ring. If you didn’t purchase the warrenty, most stores will still let you do so and replace the ring at the correct size for free. Well sorta free. 🙂

Oh goodness, sorry I didn’t clarify better…
We ordered a new one in a 9, and they said there’s absolutely no issue returning/swapping them at this point – right now I just have a deposit on the ring. But they did say to discuss amongst ourselves to see if we’d be more comfortable ordering a ring that CAN be resized, because the particular ring we ordered can NOT be resized, ever. The metal is too strong or something.
Either way, I don’t want to spend gobs of money on a ring for him. I honestly don’t know how often he will wear it b/c he’s in medical school and if he becomes a surgeon or something he won’t be able to wear one during the day. The white gold ring that was his 2nd choice is like $300 more expensive than the original one we like best…
