Yep, they both look cloudy due to the photos, and I actually see more color in the diamond halo ring. I find it funny when people say they can tell the difference from pictures like this.

The diamond halo is large enough to really see the difference to me.

I guess I’m an idiot, I can’t see the difference ๐Ÿ™

Wow, based on those pics I totally love the moissy, actually. Thanks for posting, OP. ๐Ÿ™‚

Moissy next to a diamond; no comparison I always prefer the diamonds. Moissy always looks cloudy to me too. I’ll take a smaller diamond any day over a larger moissy. They just look like overpriced costume jewelry to me.

For those saying it looks cloudy, is it possible that the lense is just not in focus? They didn’t look cloudy until I looked again on my computer where the pics are much bigger and I noticed they didn’t really look in focus.  For instance, the bottom pic looks like it’s focusing on her finger instead of the stone.  Make sense?  Maybe it’s just me.

@WillyNilly:  No it’s not you.  That’s why I said it’s not just the moissanite.  I’m on a 27in iMac.  They’re all blurry.

@luvmesumhim:  it’s no big. Kind of hard to get clear pics without a professional camera. You tried though and that’s what counts. ๐Ÿ™‚

Both the moissanite and diamond look cloudy in the photo.  It’s the photo.  I’m assuming the pic was taken with a camera phone?  Jewelry stores have a lot of lights.  It would be hard for a small lens to focus due to the light reflecting from the stone.

My moissanite never looks cloudy.  I have a few moissanite stones.  They’re all crisp and clear.  They do not look like costume jewelry, EVER… even the big stones.  I’ve owned (still own) good quality diamonds (big and small).  I can say with certainty that in comparison to a diamond, moissanite does not look like a lower quality gem stone.  Yes, they are definitely different, but neither is superior to the other.

If you scroll down to the videos on this page and play both at the same time, you can see moissanite compared to diamonds in the same cut.

@luvmesumhim:  Oh, my gosh.  I totally dont’ care!  I think its funny how people are saying “oh the moissanite is cloudy”.  I’m just pointing out the whole pic is cloudy!  I think it’s impossible to take pix of rings!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m developing an obsession with moissies! I’ve never heard of any of them ever having any cloudiness. That mostly seems the case with old CZs and low clarity grade diamonds. For moissies it’s usually just the warmth and moodiness in different lighting. I want one!!! I found this youtube video that shows a moissy in sunlight. Drool:)

@Pokemon:  So know what you mean about price. There’s a halo ring that I love so much at MoissyCo that I could get cheaper from another store that sells the same setting with a diamond center. sad :(.

@dewingedpixie:  Some people pay more money to find vintage cut diamonds that will throw rainbow flashes the way a moissy does all by itself :). August vintage cuts are an example. I just heard about these recently. Depends on what you like I guess.

@luvmesumhim:  I’m totally with you.. I didn’t want to get a moissy so that i could get like a 3ct stone, I wanted it because I got a .75ct for like $460 instead of $3060. Financially, it just made more sense to me (no judgement for either moissy girls or diamond girls). I don’t feel like I have something that’s “fake” or “not the real thing”. To me, moissy is no more or no less beautiful than diamond. To me, it honestly looks the exact same.

I held my moissy up against my sister’s (very expensive) 1 ct diamond and there was literally ZERO difference, maaaaybe the diamond looked a little more sparkly, but that’s it (we were indoors so maybe in natural light there might be a difference, don’t know). Anyone that looked as they were held side-by-side could tell zero difference! I don’t feel like people should say moissy looks “fake” or “glassy”because in my experience, it looks exactly the same.

Thanks for the post! ๐Ÿ™‚
