I did breastfeed and got my period back at 5 weeks PP and it was terrible. Such bad cramps, heavy flow and lasted about a week. I still get terrible cramps every period at almost 18 months PP.

I got my period back after 9 months of breast feeding and formula supplementation.  My period was normal when it came back.

I breastfed my son until he was a year. I had completely cut down to once a day by then, but still no period, since we wanted to TTC again, I stopped BF and my period arrived 2 weeks later and was the same as it had been before. If anything, it was a bit lighter,

I got mine about 11 weeks PP. It coincided with me slowing down my pumping and now I’ve completed stopped pumping. I tried breastfeeding in the beginning, but after a couple of weeks of that I had to exclusively pump and supplement with formula. The period was pretty typical in so far as cramping and the only difference I noticed was a heavier flower for longer (I usually only bled heavy for the 1st and 2nd days before I got pregnant) and it lasted about 7-8 days versus the typical 5-6 days of my regular periods.

I did EBF for 6 months, and got my period 10 months PP, it was paiful, very heavy (i felt like there was a broken pipe down there) and it lasted 7 whole days.

I got my first post partum period right before my daughter’s first birthday. I was starting to wean at that point and only nursing 2-3 times a day and wasn’t pumping anymore. I felt a cramp literally right as I went to go to the bathroom and then it started. It wasn’t horrible though, lasted normal and went back to my 27-28 day cycle pretty quickly.

This thread is old, so this may not be relevant anymore, but commenting anyway — just FYI, nothing in the first six weeks “counts” as your period returning. It’s still considered postpartum bleeding.

My period came back at 9 weeks pp, even though I was breastfeeding, but it has been irregular since then. We are almost completely weaned now but I am having a long (anovulatory?) cycle right now.
