I’ve read the 1st is often late. Makes me nervous b/c I’m due 9/8 and I keep hoping baby will make the 9/1 cut off for school we have here in GA.lol

My first was 3 weeks early but I don’t think it counts as normal because there were complications (placenta abruption) leading to an emergency c-section.

My second was 3 weeks late and was a vaginal birth, natural, no induction.

And as for going past the due date this depends on the baby and your health care provider.  My doc and I discussed it at length and I did NOT want to be induced, because I really wanted to avoid another c-section.  So he had me come in once a week when I was past my due date and did a non-stress test and all that.  baby was okay and I was okay so there was no inducing.  I went into labor spontaneously and he was huge but there were no problems with him or the birth (it was just long though!)

My son was born at 39w3d.   I did go to 4 cms dilated for 20 days, but would not let them induce me.  I first started labour at 36w4d and my body quit after 2 hours of cramping and cervical changes.  He was facing my hip, so if his position was correct, he probably would have been early.

Dear Daughter was born exactly a week late, at 41w (due 09/07, born 09/14).

I was 4 days late, and was dilated 1-2 cm and 50-80% effaced for about 2-3 weeks prior.  I feel like a lot of my friend’s had their first babies early but I heard that was pretty rare!

great question! interesting to see results!

for those charting and having a really good idea of their conception date, were you still late? i just starting reading TCOYF and read about how dates can be off due to the assumption of ovulation 14 days after period.

I was 4 days late… and it was a long four days. I was scheduled for induction 4 days after that but I got induced the day I did after a routine appointment showed that fluid levels around the baby were to low.. So they induced me then.

@BirdofaFeather:  I was knowledgable about my cycles, and pretty certain of my conception date,  and yes, I was still that late.

I was 36 weeks and 1 day when my son was born. He was a healthy 6 lbs 2 oz, the doc said he would of been 10 lbs if he went full term! Thank god he came sooner!
