My son was 11 days early.  No complications or anything, he just seemed to feel he was ready to come out.

I had always heard that first babies come late, but mine was born at 34 weeks. Nothing was wrong, my water just broke and I went into labor.  She was 5 lbs and perfect.  And yes, the dates were right, I had an ultrasound pretty early in the pregnancy and was sure of the dates.  Some babies just come when they want to, I guess.

I was 6 days early (naturally), and since I was charting and knew my ovulation date, my due date was correct.  I was 1-2 centimeters dialated and effacing for a couple weeks before labor, and at the end I was walking A LOT and having lots of sex.  ๐Ÿ™‚  My doctor also swept my membranes at 37 and 38 weeks, which I think helped contribute to me not going overdue.

I went into labor 9 days after my original due date and 3 days after the due date they changed it to…..I don’t chart but always thought my original due date was correct because I took pregnancy tests early and often and I would have tested positive incredibly early for the later due date to be correct.

With my first I was due May 10th and went into labor on April 11th and he was born on April 16th, they kept me in the hospital the whole time except for about 6 hours, they let me go to my parents house to get some rest.  They were afraid I’d try to make the drive back up to our real hospital and deliver there (I should’ve Wink )

His apgars were 10’s, they think their dates were off as he was a healthy 6lbs 3oz.

With my first I had a due date of Aug 28.  I kept telling my dr that she was wrong on my date but of course at 20 a doc isn’t going to listen to me.  I ended up having my son on Aug 25 (after 36 hours of labor and 2 1/2 hours of pushing).  After he was born my doc took one look at him and said “Huh maybe he was overdue”.  He wasn’t big, only 8 lbs 1.5 oz, but there are things that docs look for on a newborn like the longer hair, longer nails, and gooey stuff if they have it or are missing it.  Apparently AFTER he was born she decided that he should have had a due date of about 2 weeks prior.

I went into labor on my own and everything worked out he is still healthy but science isn’t always exact.  I’m a nurse and I still believe that strange things happen.  So be stern when telling your doc about what you are feeling.  I kept telling her I got pregnant a month before she thought I did.  I got my period while I was pregnant though and they go by your last period.  So if I’m pregnant and still getting a period than it messes everything up.

Same with my second pregnancy.  I kept telling my doc (same doc as first) that things were weird with this pregnancy and she kept telling me that it was because its my second child.  Turns out all my “weird” feelings were correct.  I kept feeling the baby kick a lot sooner than books tell you they should, also gained a lot more weight each month (like 19 lbs in a month).  I wasn’t measuring big but at 28 weeks (yup 7 months along) I find out that I’m pregnant with twins!!!  I had to change to a high risk pregnancy doc and a new hospital.

My original doc isn’t bad, in some ways she’s brilliant.  When I was 16 and kept getting sick and no one else could figure out what was wrong she was the one to suggest an x-ray and found a grapefruit sized tumor in my chest around my heart and lungs.  I just think that when it comes to babies I should have went with a OB/GYN instead of a general practice doctor.
