@MeeShell:  I believe most see you around 8-12 weeks. When you call to schedule an appointment, they’ll ask you when your last period was or how far along you think you are and schedule appropriately.

Sorry ๐Ÿ™ i think then in that case they would see you sooner.  I would call right away, and if they say no just say youre nervous (if you are) and would like to be seen right away.  I have a history of miscarriage and I got an early appt and an early sono (after i switched drs)

I went in at 4w2d, although they didn’t initially ask me the date of my LMP. But they did blood work and I spoke with a nurse/did paperwork. I’ll be going back at 8w5d for an appt with my actual OB and to have an ultrasound. I think if you are high risk you should make an appointment as soon as possible.

Mine was around 10 weeks. I actually had my first ultrasound before my first obgyn visit. I’m not high risk at all, so I think they would see you much sooner than 10 weeks.

I went to my doctor at 4.5 weeks to confirm. Had my 1st U/S at 8 weeks and my first prenatal appt that week too.

If you’re high risk I don’t see why you can’t go to your doctor sooner ๐Ÿ™‚

Mine was right around 5 weeks – I had blood drawn for labs and went over my medical history with a nurse. Then I had an 8 week appointment and had an ultrasound done, but only because they wanted to make sure my due date was correct since I have irregular periods.

Also, the only reason I had an appointment at 5 weeks was because I had already had a patient consult set up that I had made before I was pregnant, plus DH and I were leaving for our honeymoon when I was 6 weeks pregnant so they wanted to see me before we left.

I think it depends on  your doctor. Mine will see you before 8weeks but usually they are pretty booked so have to wait a few weeks which takes you to 7 or 8 weeks. When I went to my 1st appointment I got squeezed in bc og a cancellation they thought I was only 6weeks (turned out I was way further) but they saw me anyway. What they won’t do is schedule an ultrasound before 8 weeks unless you’ve been spotting. Good luck!

Congratulations! ๐Ÿ™‚  My doctor saw me at 7.5 weeks. At first, I was surprised because that seemed like so long away to me, but it went really fast. I’m glad it wasn’t earlier, because I think they would have had trouble picking up the embryo on the ultrasound, and that would have just made me worry.

@MeeShell:  When I called my Dr. to make my first appointment, the nurse asked me a whole bunch of questions helping them determine when I needed to go in.  For me they told me not to come in at 7-8 weeks, but I bet with your history they would ask you to come in earlier.

well you can have bloodwork done that early. i think it is too early for a U/S though as there wouldn’t be anything much to see – so they probably wouldn’t do that earlier than 6 weeks

My doctor’s office reccomends you to go between 6-8 weeks for your first prenatal. It is just to do blood work and go over the basics. I was able to request a U/S due to having a short cervix and a prior miscarriage and they found that I was measuring a week behind. I was 6 weeks exactly and now I have been scheduled to have another U/S this week making me 7 weeks to see if there is a change.
