I went when I thought I was 8 weeks. She couldnt find the heartbeat on the ultrasound so I had the transvaginal probe and there he was! Beating away. <3 Turned out I was only 6 weeks 4 days!

7.5 weeks. I am a uk bee but paid for an earlier scan. The heart beat was flickering but the baby looked very blob like.

I have to say, waiting for the scan is tough but if I’d not seen the heart beat I would have flat out panicked even if I had been to told it was normal

I went in at 7w0d and had a vaginal ultrasound and we could hear the heartbeat. It looked like just a little bean, but we could definitely hear the heartbeat and that completely made it feel like a baby to us even without a head. If you’re getting an ultrasound that early, I recomend a vaginal. It’s more uncomfortable, but easier to see/hear that early on.

Awe I’m sorry, I didn’t see your latest update until after I posted for some reason. If you’re that anxious to see/hear a heartbeat, look for a clinic you can go to. I’m not sure of your financial situation, but you can get one for around $150 where I am. Also, planned parenthood will do ultrasounds that early.

annonbee857 :  interesting that they would “confirm” with a Doppler. Definitely seems early. I’ll be 16 weeks Wednesday. Had scans at 7.5 and 11 weeks and saw the heartbeat both times. Today was my 3rd Appt and I heard the HB for the first time. Didn’t bother with Doppler before since it can be hard to pick up.

I saw it at 6 weeks and heard it at 7. The baby didn’t look like anything but a white dot at 6 weeks though and the Dr had to point out the heartbeat and keep the sono in place for a few good seconds before I could see the flicker- I really had no idea what he was trying to get me to see at first! I couldn’t see it! At 7 weeks you could see it a little better but also hear it and you could kind of see where the head and body were separating in the white blob lol

I always thought it strange that online many sites say that the Doppler isn’t effective until 10+w. Both the OB practice I used to go to and the midwife practice I am now in use dopplers way earlier. I had a Doppler at 6w6d and they were able to find the heartbeat. Not to say everyone will have the same experience, but it’s apparently common enough that it is routine practice for many offices to use the Doppler quite early.

I am currently 4w1d and I am booked in for my first OB appointment for 7w1d.
I am assuming I will have my first ultrasound on this day as this seems to be standard practice in AU – your first scan is around 8wks. I think my OB bought it forward a few days as I will be 8wks over Easter holidays.

SO excited – I feel like it will all seem so much more real once I see the baby, even if it’s just a blob and once I hear the heartbeat!!

    21 days to go!! 😛

I saw and heard the heartbeat today at 6 weeks 2 days! I had some red spotting this afternoon and my doctor had me come in for a transvaginal ultrasound to make sure everything was OK.  My real first appointment is just after 8 weeks, so had the spotting not happened, my doctor didn’t want to see me until I was further along.

At my first appointment I will be 13.5 weeks! Apparently they are super booked pretty far in advance, and DH and I could only do Tues or Thurs in the late afternoon, so that delayed our appointment by a few weeks… I just hope there’s no reason why it would be bad to wait that late. I guess if there were, then they would have told me so?

With my daughter we had an ultrasound at 5 weeks 6 days and we could see the heartbeat. There was just a little jelly been on the screen with a little flicker in the middle!
