I had a false positive on one on my lunch at work one day, thought I was seeing things but two of my coworkers confirmed I wasnt

freaked out and took the other two which were negative

was still freaked out so I immediately went to one of those walk in dr. offices, and had them do another test which was also negative.

The Dr just said it must have been a faulty test. Pretty rare, but I wouldnt say it was impossible.

False positives are incredibly rare. In most cases when you do get a false positive, it’s usually a faint EVAP line, or the line is obviously wonky.

That being said, there are a number of ladies who I know from the online world that have gotten faint faint positives because they drink a lot of mountain dew. Seriously. It can cause false +’s…yuk!

In your case, I would get a digital and test with that. Please let us know. Fingers crossed 🙂

You said you took a second test and that it was an EPT– are those blue dye tests? If so, they are notorious for false negatives, and I’d trust the FRER. Get another pink test and try again after a 4 hour hold or with FMU. Good luck!

Frer has a 10 hcg threshold to be positive while ept I believe is 25 or even higher. It would be entirely possible for you to get a positive on frer and then a negative if say you were only at 20 or something. Good luck !

@Schatzie821:  I got a faint line at 6hcg! I knew the number because the doc was following it after a MC. I was shocked.

This board might be helpful if you haven’t read through it yet it explains each HPT by sensitivity.

This link http://www.babymed.com/pregnancy-testing/false-positive-pregnancy-test-result is about false positives, they are EXTREMELY rare but I guess can happen according to this article.

I’d say remain calm and test again in a few days with FMU.

Good luck
