First “Come-and-Go” shower has come and gone and I couldn’t have asked for a better day! I even became emotional during my “thanks for coming” speech and couldn’t finish!
The Good Times: Tons of yummy food and drink, including a chocolate fountain! Ladies that I wasn’t expecting to make it, did! Got some beautiful gifts (FI’s truck that I used to take everything back to his place was full). The weather was beautiful. A bit warm for me, but I was able to stay inside to greet/say goodbye and thank guests. I didn’t have to open the gifts in front of everyone. We asked that they come unwrapped (any that were, my little cousin unwrapped!) and were put on display for everyone to come and look at in another room. And NO games! Everyone ate, drank and visited.
The Not-So Good: As much as there were lots of ladies that showed up, only 2 of my actual friends came. One had a very good excuse (niece ended up in emergency) but the rest, either didn’t hear from, or gave piss-poor excuses. It was a come and go, I would have been happy if you could have come for a couple minutes to say hi. Nope. Three gifts weren’t from the registry. To be expected, but two of them I loved and will use. The third, was all from the dollar store. I had a ton of affordable, smaller items on the list… These were my dad’s first cousins and his aunt who are all doing quite well for themselves. Don’t want to sound bridezilla, but it ticked me off a bit… but I never really liked and aren’t close with these people anyway. One of my aunt’s tried to cause a bit of drama (very long story) but she left early and I didn’t see all of it.
So in the end, the good out-weighed the bad, it was everything I could have asked for and I’m pretty sure all the ladies had a good time! Pretty sure my kitchen will be all stocked up, so with the next shower (“Gift Card” one with FI’s family) will be able to stock up the bathrooms and bedrooms!
