“Ugh, this is so fucking frustrating. I mean, YES!”

(Looooong story short, we had a long-distance phone proposal, which is NOT how either of us pictured it, but it ended up for the best!

I went from “are you joking?” to “OMG!” in a span of like, 10 seconds.

I didn’t have a typical proposal. We knew for months we were going to get married, we just had to decide when. We were lying in bed one night in January and started talking about when to get married and Fiance said he’d prefer Feb 2012. I told him that wouldn’t happen since we weren’t “officially” engaged yet and I wanted at least a year to be enaged and plan. So he was basically just like “well let’s be engaged now then”. At first I was like “are you kidding?!” but then when I realized he was serious I was more like “OMG SERIOUSLY?! We’re engaged?!!”

(oops, just saw the “didn’t have a proposal” option. I’d click that one if I could!)

I was so speechless, he said I looked like a deer in the headlights so I eventually barely muttered “k” (it was all I could get out!) and then got down on my knees with him and kissed and hugged. He had to ask me if I even wanted to see the ring cause I was so focused on him!

He had me convinced “it” would happen on a weekend.  It happened on a Thursday night.

So my first words were “But it’s Thursday”.  I did eventually say Yes!!!  lol

ooo This is fun!! He got down on his knee and asked if I would marry him, and I said “Don’t toy with my emotions!”

Before that, he used to pretend to propose, so I just thought he was messing with me again.

@ellabee: I said the same…Absolutely!!  Through all the tears, I’m still amazed he could understand what I said.

Mine hasn’t happened yet but I am so afraid I’m going to curse. A habit I am usually good about not doing (picked it up being a jock in HS) since I just don’t like it,  but happends some when I’m driving. Or when I am very surprised. So I seriously hope I don’t when he finally gets around to asking.

I burst into tears, actually. I don’t think I was able to say anything, and I hadn’t even seen the ring yet. I was just crying so much he had to get back up off his knee to hug me and calm me down. I remember nodding and kissing him, and then eventually thought to ask if I could see the ring, haha.

Well, depends on which part.  In my defense, Fiance intially just got down on his knee with my wedding band and didn’t actually ask the question…after the gasping, I asked, “Is this what I think this is?”  He said yes and I pulled him up and we hugged a while.  Then I said, “But you didn’t actually ask!”  So, while he did get down on one knee, he was standing when he actually asked…and my immediate response was yes.  🙂

I freaked out Sun and he reasurred me. I remained cool —>

THEN on that Thursday a meaningful day to us, we so happened to take a tour of his city to places we had seen together. (Yea, that sparked the “what’s going on, Honey?” but I sucked it up all day and went with it, because I freaked out Sunday & didn’t want to go through that again, haha)

I started to feel his hands getting chalky/sweaty as we approached where we had our first date… 20 mins after walking in, he kneeled down (I thought he was picking up something until I noticed his jitteriness and he just stayed there) It’s like he forgot half of what he was supposed to do …so it perplexed me. I still didn’t get it (All the while saying how he couldn’t imagine his life without me & everyday he thanks God for bringing me into his life etc, sweet things kept spewing out…so cute!) Then in my mid confusion & being tricked…

    My response: “Are YOU se r i o u s?!”

His: “Do you want me to be?”

     We laughed and hugged

He proceeded to tell me “sweet nothings” & asked “will you be with me for the rest of my life as my wife?” (Of course I was speechless, and he was “well?” and I handed him the bag and signaled that he needed to get the ring out) Hahaha, we chuckled & he commented on how the SA told him every girl wants the blue bag/box so it didn’t occur to him to take out the ring!…I was like forget that, I want that ring on my finger so I can be engaged to you) I kept saying “Yes, of course!”

I said “what did you make me close my eyes for? I didnt hear a word you said can you repeat your speech?” HAHAA LOL

Long story short… Fiance made me stand there with my eyes closed after a long tiring day and I all could think about when I was standing there was how much my feet hurt and how badly i wanted to sit down so I didnt realize he was talking to me until he grabbed my hand which made me open my eyes and he got down on 1 knee… which led to my above response since I missed the whole proposal!! Apparently when my eyes are closed my ears dont work either LOL

    “Are you sure?”

I had no idea that he’d decided he wanted to marry me, even though I knew I wanted to marry him, so I was really taken by surprise. I couldn’t equate him proposing to me with my thought that he hadn’t made that decision 🙂

I think I asked him at least twice. Then he pointed out that I hadn’t said “yes” yet. It was all a little confused as there were police with loud-hailers in English and Cantonese right next to us…

V_V He got down on his knee and said all this beautiful stuff. When he opened the ring box all I could say was, “OMG! It’s pretty! WOW! LOOK AT IT!” then I said yes.
